The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Hohai University takes the discipline of mechanical engineering as the leading direction, takes mechanical engineering, thermal energy and power engineering, material processing engineering, industrial design, digital media art and other majors as the main features, and faces engineering applications, and trains senior engineering and technical talents in modern mechanical design, manufacturing automation and informatization, electromechanical system test and control, computer engineering application, thermal energy and power engineering of power plants, air conditioning and refrigeration, material processing engineering, industrial design, digital media art and technology.

The college has five undergraduate majors: mechanical engineering and automation, thermal energy and power engineering, metal material engineering, industrial design and digital media art; Master of mechanical engineering, master of material processing engineering in two disciplines, master of mechanical engineering. "Mechanical and Electronic Engineering" is a key discipline at ministerial level, and "Mechanical Design and Theory" is a key construction discipline at school level during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period.
