Yunnan Vocational College of Water Resources and Hydropower is a public higher vocational school with a history of more than 60 years. It focuses on cultivating high-quality builders and professional and technical personnel in the front line of water resources and hydropower construction, operation and management, and is also the only higher vocational school in the province. The school has two campuses, Fumin and Lanlongtan, and has five secondary colleges, namely water conservancy, electric power, civil engineering, management and artificial intelligence.

The school adheres to the motto of "being as good as water, integrating knowledge with practice", adheres to the direction of running a socialist school, takes educating people as the fundamental task, takes water conservancy, electric power and civil engineering as the backbone features, takes the integration of production and education and school-enterprise cooperation as the way, is based in Yunnan, faces South Asia and Southeast Asia, and actively serves and integrates into the national development strategy.

Since entering the ranks of higher vocational education, it has realized the leap-forward development of education and teaching. The campus covers an area of more than 700 mu, with a school building area of 228,500 square meters. The campus environment is beautiful, and the water landscapes such as Xue Hai, arch dam, earth-rock dam and Sanyanjing are patchwork, which skillfully integrates the practice facilities with the water cultural landscape.

The school has a strong faculty, with senior professional titles accounting for 43.8%, master's degree or above accounting for 5 1.3%, and "double-qualified" teachers accounting for 62.6%. The school has advanced teaching instruments and equipment, rich books and rich teaching resources, and all majors have systematic training bases inside and outside the school.
