Temple introduction: < /p>

Meishan Temple is located in Meishan in the east of Tong'an City, where there are dense woods, steep rock walls and plum blossoms. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, opposite the Brahma Temple in Dalun Mountain and Jiaxi of Tong'an Film and Television City.

The ancient name of Meishan is "Tongshan". The mountain is not high but steep, and serves as a barrier for Tongyi. It is also the basis for the naming of "Datongchang" in the late Tang Dynasty and "Tong'an County" in the Western Jin Dynasty. Meishan Temple was built in the Sui Dynasty, and together with Lingxia Huangfo Temple and Lunshan Xingjiao Temple (later Brahma Temple) were the three major ancient temples in the Sui Dynasty. Meishan Temple is built along the mountain, including the Main Hall, Erlang Temple in Zhenshui, Zhu Gongwen Temple, Gongde Hall, Lingying Ancestral Temple Pavilion, as well as cliff carvings, grottoes and Song Dynasty Brahmin pagodas on the rock walls.

When you arrive at Meishan Temple, the first thing you see is the shocking stone gate. The total height of the mountain gate is 23 meters and the width is 23.6 meters. It is entirely carved from granite stone and has a four-column and three-door structure. The total stone consumption of the large mountain gate reaches more than 680 cubic meters, ranking first among the existing stone mountain gates in my country. The carving craftsmanship of the mountain gate is superb, and its complexity and difficulty are rare in the country. The Dougong is made of a whole piece of stone, and the groove-shaped joints are used between the components, leaving no gaps in the middle and making them extremely strong.

The carving craftsmanship of the mountain gate is superb, and its complexity and difficulty are rare in the country. The Dougong is made of a whole piece of stone, and the groove-shaped joints are used between the components, leaving no gaps in the middle and making them extremely strong. The carvings imitate the Song Dynasty carving style, reflecting Buddhist stories and traditional story themes. The entire mountain gate has a unique shape. The eight special dragon pillars guarding the mountain gate on both sides, also known as the "Eight Dragon King Kongs of Blessing", form a stable triangle with the mountain gate. This is unique among stone mountain gates in the country. The other pillars supporting the mountain gate adopt multiple superposition methods, first vertically and then upside down. There are more than 100 dragons scattered throughout the mountain gate, symbolizing wealth and luck. It is reported that nearly 60 first-class stone carving masters from Hui'an, Fujian were invited to build the mountain gate, which took three years and cost about 10 million yuan.

Going up the mountain road, there are towering ancient trees on both sides of the road, and a few crisp bird calls can be heard from time to time, making Meishan Temple even more primitive and quiet. Arriving next to Meishan Temple, a three-story square stone tower with reliefs on all sides and a gourd-shaped spire is eye-catching. This pagoda is called the Brahmin Buddha Stone Pagoda. It has a history of more than 900 years and was built in the Yuan Dynasty of the Song Dynasty. Therefore, it has a long history and high artistic value.

After climbing a few steps, my eyes suddenly opened up, and I saw a huge grotto that was almost vertical to the ground. This grotto is located on the right side of the Main Hall of Meishan Temple. It is a natural stone wall that makes people feel The uncanny craftsmanship and meticulous carving of nature. The grottoes, which are more than 20 meters high, are carved with shrines one after another, arranged in an orderly manner, and each shrine is carved with a lifelike Buddha statue.

The Buddha statues here have different expressions and postures. I saw that the Guanyin Buddha statue was about four or five meters high and stood solemnly in the center of the grotto. Her figure is light, her lines are soft, and her expression is both solemn and loving, making people feel pious respect. The Arhat held his chin in his hand, closed his eyes, and lowered his head as if he was meditating on the profoundness of Buddhism. I saw the Dragon-Subduing Arhat, his eyes wide with anger, holding the collar high in one hand, holding the dragon's head tightly with the other, and firmly stepping on the dragon's tail with his feet. The Arhat is sitting on the back of the elephant, holding a scroll of scripture in both hands, with a kind and peaceful expression. The ear-picking Arhat is so naive, holding an ear-picking spoon in his hand and digging his ears attentively, with his eyes half-closed, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, and a smile showing. It’s so leisurely...

These 87 grottoes, among which 84 Buddha statues are carved based on the original figures of the characters in the Buddhist classic "The Great Compassion Mantra", make people feel like they have arrived at the Great Leiyin Temple in the Western Heaven in "Journey to the West". It is so solemn and solemn. Solemn.

The main hall of Meishan Temple imitates the style of the Song Dynasty, while the mountain gate refers to the architectural style of Mount Wutai. The Main Hall now houses the country's largest Burmese white jade Buddha statue, the Sakyamuni Buddha, which weighs 65 tons. The Jade Buddha of Sakyamuni is 9 meters high and consists of three parts: lotus seat, statue and backlight. The Dharma statue is made of Burmese white jade, 5.65 meters high, 4 meters wide, 3 meters thick, weighing 65 tons and costing more than 4.7 million yuan.
