How to set up vlan router
What is Layer 3 switching and VLAN?
To answer this question, let's first look at the working principle of Ethernet. The working principle of Ethernet is to combine bytes composed of binary bits into frames of data (in fact, some electric pulses) to spread in wires. First, the nodes that need to transmit data on the Ethernet network segment monitor the line. This process is called CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) carrier sense.
If another node is transmitting data at this time, the listening node will have to wait until the transmission task of the transmitting node ends. If two workstations are ready to transmit data at the same time, the Ethernet segment will send out a "collision" signal. At this time, all workstations on the node will detect the conflict signal, because the voltage on the wire exceeds the standard voltage at this time.
At this point, no node on the Ethernet segment can transmit data until the conflict is over. That is to say, in CSMA/CD mode, only one node can transmit data on the line at a time. The networking equipment for forwarding Ethernet data frames is a hub, which is a layer of equipment and has low transmission efficiency.
Collision reduces the bandwidth of Ethernet, which is inevitable. Therefore, when there are more and more nodes on the line, the number of conflicts will increase. The obvious solution is to limit the nodes on the Ethernet line, which requires physical segmentation of the network. Network devices that physically segment the network use bridges and switches.
The basic function of bridges and switches is to send only information destined for other physical network segments. Therefore, if all information is sent only to the local physical network segment, there is no information on the bridge and switch. This can effectively reduce a certain arc m? Lotus root apprentice for a change? Cavity? The forwarding decision is made by investigating the AC (Media Access Control) address. They are Layer 2 devices.
We already know the shortcomings of Ethernet and the impact of conflicts in physical network segments. Now, let's look at another reason that causes the network to slow down: broadcasting. Broadcasting exists in all networks. If it is not properly controlled, it will flood the whole network and produce a lot of network communication. Broadcasting not only consumes bandwidth, but also reduces the processing efficiency of user workstations.
For various reasons, the network operating system (NOS) uses broadcasting, TCP/IP uses broadcasting to resolve MAC addresses from IP addresses, and also uses broadcasting to announce through RIP and IGRP protocols, so broadcasting is inevitable. Bridges and switches forward all broadcast information, while routers do not. Therefore, in order to control broadcasting, you must use a router. Routers make forwarding decisions based on the Layer 3 header, destination IP address, destination IPX address or destination Appletalk address. Routers are Layer 3 devices.
Easily set up a wireless network print server with an old computer.
At work, there are still many documents that need to be printed by the company, but it is really inconvenient to connect the laptop to the printer, so colleagues who use laptops can only use flash memory to copy the documents to the printing room or the desktop computer in the office for printing. Copying files for a long time is really troublesome, so many colleagues want to set up a * * * printer to enjoy printing, and then realize * * * to enjoy printing on their own computers through the company's wireless network.
In order to facilitate colleagues to print remotely, I set up a wireless network print server in the company, so that colleagues can print the files that need to be printed on any computer through the print server, and we can also manage the print server remotely through the webpage.
The difference between online printing and * * * enjoying printing.
In the early days, a computer on the network was connected to a printer and set to * * * mode. Other computers have to * * * enjoy this printer and connect through * * * mode to realize * * * enjoying printing. If more users use the printer, the computer connected to the printer will be embarrassed, burdened and a little troublesome to manage.
Network printer is an Internet-based network printer. The printer is no longer a peripheral device, but exists as a node on the network. The network printer is directly connected to the network through the network cable slot, and remotely managed through the Web, so as to realize high-speed printing and output at the network speed.
Install the print server
Network printing needs a printer with a network printing server, but the price of such a printer is not cheap. In order to save costs and make full use of existing resources, I turned an old computer in the company into a virtual print server, so that colleagues can print on the network conveniently in the company LAN.
First, make sure that the computer has installed Windows Server 2003 system and can connect to the company LAN normally. Then, connect the printer to the computer, open the Manage Your Server component, click Add Printer in the printer server (Figure 1), and then follow the prompts to add the printer we need to install and install the printer driver.
Then right-click the printer icon in the Printer and Fax dialog box in Control Panel →, and select Properties Command. In the printer properties dialog box that opens, set the printer to * * * sharing mode and enter a * * * sharing name (Figure 2).
Later, we need to install the printer driver on the computer operated by our colleagues. When installing, open the network neighborhood on the computer and find the computer with the printer installed. At this point, we can see the name of the printer we installed, right-click and select Connect. At this time, the system prompts that the printer driver will be installed on this machine. Select Yes to install the network printer driver.
Set up Web management
After the printer is set up, we need to publish it through IIS to realize network printing. Start the IIS program that comes with the system. First, we create a virtual directory for the network printer.
Tip: IIS components are not installed in Windows XP system by default. If it is not installed in our system, we will install it in Add/Remove programs first.
When creating, in the IIS list, right-click the default website, click New → Virtual Directory, and then open the Create Wizard dialog box. In this wizard, we can set an alias of a virtual directory according to the prompt, such as "print", point the directory to the installation directory of the printer driver, and set the "access right" to "read and run the script". After creating the virtual directory, open the properties dialog box of the site directory and select the Enable default document check box in the document dialog box. Then click the Add button on the right to add a default file name. For example, the default document of HP printer is "Ipp_000 1.asp". Then click the OK button.
When it is necessary to remotely manage the target printer, run the IE browser program on any computer in the local area network, input the URL address of the network printer "Working mode, wireless network type is set to mixed, wireless network name (ssid) information, add the scanning SSID of the wireless network, that is, tp-link, and keep other information as the default. Then, we click the Save button to save the configuration.
Step 3: After modifying the wireless mode, we need to configure the connection type of the wireless WAN interface and return to setup-& gt;; In the basic setting interface, change the WAN connection type to automatic configuration -DHCP automatic collection mode through the drop-down menu, and then save it.
Step 4: If there is no problem, you can see the address information obtained by the WAN interface after refreshing. Of course, this address is actually assigned by the DHCP service on someone else's TP-LINK. We see that the address is192.168.1.112. The gateway address and DNS address are both 192. 168. 1, which is the management address of TP-LINK, so that we can expand and amplify the wireless signal.
Step 5 of wireless network relay setting: Of course, there is another problem that cannot be ignored, that is, the management address of our wireless router must not conflict with the management address of the destination device. For example, in fact, the management address of my equipment is also 192. 168. 1, which is not acceptable. We need to modify it and replace it with another network segment, such as 65438.
Tip:
When modifying the address pool and the management address of the router itself, we can't click the Save button, because the modified Save button can only take effect when restarting the device, so we need to click the Apply Settings button to enable these two parameters immediately.
Step 6 of wireless network relay setting: After saving, we realized the relay and amplification function of wireless network, and other people's wireless networks were successfully introduced into our home. Our wireless router has the function of external network access, and all network packets are sent from him to the TP-LINK wireless router of the destination network through the wireless network, and then further connected to the Internet.
Tip:
Since our local wireless router only provides relay service, it is ok to ping192.168.0.1(the management address of the local wireless router) on the connected device, but ping192./kloc-0. Therefore, network connectivity cannot be detected by ping.
Through this relay configuration, we can connect the computer without wireless network card to the Ethernet interface of the local relay wireless router through the network cable, so that the computer without wireless network card can surf the Internet through the wireless network.
