Historical evolution:

During the Western Zhou Dynasty, there were many vassal states in Xinyang, such as Shen, Xi 'an, Huang, Jiang, Jiang and Guo. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, from 688 BC, the State of Chu annexed the above-mentioned countries one after another, appointed Yin County (the county magistrate) for management, and established local governments directly under the central government of Chu-Shenxian County, Xixian County and County, which was the beginning of Xinyang's county establishment.

During the Qin Dynasty, the county ruled, and now Xinyang is a subordinate of Jiujiang County, which has jurisdiction over five counties: Yilou County, Xiyang County (now Guangshan County), Si Qi County (now Huaibin County), Xixian County (now Xixian County) and Chengyang County (now Changtaiguan, Pingqiao District).

After Qin Dynasty, Xinyang still belonged to Jiujiang County, and its jurisdiction was reduced. Xixian County was renamed Xinxi County, and five counties were added, namely: Anchang County (now Pingchangguan in Pingqiao District), Yiyang County (now Huangchuan County), Yixian County (now Guangshan County), Nai County (now Gaodian and luoshan county) and Zhongwu County (now Pingqiao District).

In the early years of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Xinxi, Yiyang, Yilou, Liaoguo, Qi and other counties changed to Houguo, Zhongwu County changed to Chunhou, praised Houguo (the capital was Baoxin Town, Xixian County), and then resumed the county system; Yiyang County, where Shihe District is located, is also among them.
