During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Zhangjiawan Town was once an important land and water transportation hub and logistics distribution center at the northern end of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is famous for its gathering of businessmen, developed water transport and important strategic position. It has played a great role in the political, economic and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, north and south, and is known as the "first pier of the Grand Canal".

The saying "Zhangjiawan comes first, then Beijing" comes from this.

Zhangjiawan Town has flat terrain, rich water system and convenient transportation. Within the town area of 105.8 square kilometers, it runs through the Grand Canal, Liangshui River, Xiao Taihou River and Daiyu River, and the four major highways of Beijing-Tianjin, Beijing-Shenyang, Beijing Sixth Ring Road and Zhang Lang.

Express bridge

Yun Tong Bridge, also known as Xiao Taihou Bridge, was originally a wooden bridge, and Ming Shenzong built a stone bridge.

In the thirty-third year of Wanli (1605), it was built in October and called "Yun Tong". A brief revision of the first year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (185 1).

It's been over 380 years.

1July, 959, it was established as a cultural relics protection unit in Tongzhou District.

Xiaotaihou

Xiao Taihou River is also called "Filial Piety Queen Mother River".

Named after Xiao Taihou who presided over the excavation in Liao Dynasty, it began in the sixth year of Tonghe (988). It is the earliest waterway river since Beijing became the capital. It was originally used to transport rations, and later became an important waterway for royal water transport.

It is more than 280 years earlier than Bahe River, which was transported by water in Yuan Dynasty, and more than 300 years earlier than Tonghui River, which was transported by water in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is still one of the major rivers in eastern Beijing.

Huangmuchang guhuai

This ancient pagoda tree is located outside the southeast corner of Huang Mu Factory in Ming Dynasty.

From the 4th year of Yongle (1406) to the 7th year of Jiajing (1528), the precious timber used in the Beijing Royal Building was transported along the Grand Canal to Huang Mu Factory for storage, and the officials in charge of Huangmu Factory planted Sophora japonica trees around the factory.

After more than 600 years of historical changes, all other locust trees have disappeared, leaving only this ancient locust tree.
