Jianggan District, which belongs to Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, is one of the oldest urban areas in Hangzhou, located in the east of Hangzhou metropolis, with an area of 2 10/0,22 square kilometers. Jianggan District is the bridgehead of Hangzhou's eastward expansion, the axis of Hangzhou's urban development strategy and the transportation hub of Hangzhou. It is the new political, economic and cultural center of Hangzhou and the location of Qianjiang New City. It also owns Xiasha Higher Education Park, the largest higher education park in Zhejiang Province.

In 2004, Jianggan District governed six streets: Kaixuan Street, Cai He Street, Zhanongkou Street, Sijiqing Street, Baiyang Street and Xiasha Street; 4 towns: Jianqiao Town, Pengbu Town, Ding Qiao Town and Jiubao Town.
