The Social Responsibility of Henderson Group
On May 4th, 2008, Mr. Li Ka-shing, Vice Chairman of the Group, donated a cheque of HK$ 65,438+0,000,000 to the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on behalf of Henderson Land and the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited to assist the post-disaster reconstruction project in Sichuan.
Dr Lee Shau Kee, the chairman of this group, is unwilling to be followed by others because of his kindness. Up to now, his warm project has trained more than 6,543,800 farmers and 1 10,000 rural doctors. In 2005, Lee Shau Kee Fund donated 330 million yuan to support the project, and at the same time, employees of Henderson Land Company gave their full support as volunteers. In 2009, the Fund donated 74 million yuan to Guangxi and Ningxia Autonomous Region, of which 60 million yuan was used for the training of migrant workers, and the rest/kloc-0.40 million yuan was used for the construction of 6,000 water cellars in Ningxia Autonomous Region to solve the local drought.
Since 2006, the Group has been the main sponsor of the Summer Bridge Project in Hong Kong, helping the disadvantaged students in Hong Kong, providing them with free high-quality English learning courses and improving their academic performance. The Group has spared no effort to support cultural and artistic activities, including sponsoring the roving exhibition of the Louvre Museum in France-"Touch, Feeling and Touch-Louvre Sculpture Exhibition" 2009/20 10, and exhibiting 18 sculptures of the Louvre "Touch Art Gallery", aiming at enabling visually impaired people to appreciate these works of art more directly by touching the exhibits. All the exhibits in this exhibition are replicas of famous sculptures in the Louvre, including Venus in Milo, gladiators and slave uprisings in Borges. The Asian roving exhibition was first held in Taipei and Kaohsiung in early 2009, and then exhibited in Beijing, Fuzhou and Wuhan, which was warmly welcomed by the visually impaired and the public. The next stop of the Asia Tour is planned to be held in Beijing World Financial Center, a new landmark of the Group, to coincide with its grand opening ceremony. The roving exhibition will end in Hong Kong.
In order to let the public feel the breath of European art and culture, the group sponsored the French May Art Festival hosted by the French Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macao in 2008. It includes a series of colorful cultural and artistic activities, such as art exhibitions, music and dance performances and dramas, as well as food and wine carnivals.
The group participated in "Time China", the largest China cultural festival in Britain, and became the founding partner of the event. In the six months before the opening of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Time China held more than 65,438+0,200 events all over Britain, showing the public the essence of modern China society and culture, covering art, design, food culture, science and technology, commerce, education and sports.
In 2006, the Group became the main sponsor of the Hong Kong International Film Festival, which is one of the most famous film events in Asia and also a high-profile artistic and cultural event in Hong Kong.
The Group is committed to improving people's quality of life and fully supports diversified artistic and cultural activities, including sponsoring the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which is regarded as one of the world's top orchestras, to perform in Hong Kong in 2006. In order to implement the group's commitment to corporate social responsibility, the group strongly supports the trip around the island sponsored by green forces and actively promotes environmental protection information.
Group employees have always been enthusiastic about tree planting activities, responding to the enterprise afforestation plan organized by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, and shouldering the mission of protecting forests.
Earth Hour 2009, organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature, called on major cities around the world to arouse public attention to the climate change crisis by simply turning off the lights. The properties under the group also fully support this meaningful activity and contribute to caring for the earth.
We fully support the energy-saving competition organized by Friends of the Earth in Hong Kong, aiming at encouraging citizens to reduce energy consumption in their daily lives, thus improving environmental problems such as air pollution and global warming. The Group fully supports the SAR Government in promoting Hong Kong as a co-host city of the Olympic Games. In addition to donating money to sponsor the equestrian events of the 2008 Olympic Games, the Group also launched a series of eye-catching publicity activities to promote the Olympic spirit.
In order to support China in hosting the 2008 Olympic Games, the Group pledged to donate HK$ 1 billion in 2005 to help build the National Swimming Center "Water Cube", one of the Beijing Olympic venues. The Group is deeply honored to participate in funding the only Olympic Stadium donated by overseas Chinese in the world. The construction of the venue lasted for four years and has now become a new landmark in Beijing.
In the form of cooperation with diamond partners, the Group donated HK$ 5 million to support the 2009 East Asian Games, an international sports event, and brought this large-scale sports event to the public.
In order to further establish Hong Kong's status as Asia's world city, the group sponsored the first territory-wide New Year's Eve countdown celebration in Hong Kong. The event distributed gorgeous fireworks on the outer wall of the second phase of the International Finance Center, the tallest landmark building in Hong Kong, to celebrate the arrival of the New Year with the citizens.
