Wang Wenxiang used to be a member of the Standing Committee of Heilongjiang Provincial Political Consultative Conference, vice chairman of Heilongjiang Youth Federation, deputy of Harbin Municipal People's Congress, member of the Standing Committee of Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, vice chairman of the Economic Committee of Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of Revolutionary Committee, deputy director of Heilongjiang Provincial Real Estate Professional Committee, vice chairman of Heilongjiang Youth Chamber of Commerce, vice chairman of Harbin Real Estate Development and Housing Construction Association, vice chairman of Harbin Property Management Association and chairman of Xinheng Group.

Wang Wenxiang has successively won the honorary titles of "100 Outstanding Economic Figures in China", "Model Worker in Heilongjiang Province", "May 1st Labor Medal in Heilongjiang Province", "Economic Man of Heilongjiang Province", "Honorable Entrepreneur in Heilongjiang Province" and "Top Ten Outstanding Entrepreneurship Stars in Heilongjiang Province".

Harbin Intermediate People's Court found Wang Wenxiang guilty of intentional homicide, sentenced to death and deprived of political rights for life. The Higher People's Court of Heilongjiang Province publicly pronounced Wang Wenxiang's intentional homicide in the second instance, ruled that the appeal was dismissed and upheld the judgment of the first instance.
