Zhongwei Shapotou Airport is a domestic regional airport, which was officially opened to traffic on February 26th, 2008. 9 kilometers away from the urban area, it is a domestic 4C-level regional airport. The runway is 2800 meters long and 45 meters wide, which can meet the requirements of B737, A320 series and below.

The apron covers an area of 39,000 square meters, connecting roads 1 car, 5 parking spaces and the terminal covers an area of 3,300 square meters, which can ensure the annual passenger throughput of 6,543,800+0.5 million passengers.

On August 12, Zhongwei Xiangshan Airport was renamed Zhongwei Shapotou Airport.

By the end of the year, Zhongwei Airport had an annual passenger throughput of159,700 passengers and a cargo and mail throughput of 126.7 tons, and opened nine destinations including Beijing, Chongqing, Baiyin, Chongqing, Alashan Zuo Qi, Xi, Hefei and Shanghai.
