Zibo, referred to as Zi for short, is the old capital of Qi, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province, a second-class big city approved by the State Council, a regional central city, a modern industrial city and an important petrochemical base in Shandong.

Zibo is located in the east of China, in the middle of Shandong Province, with Linyi in the south, Dongying and Binzhou in the north, Weifang in the east and Jinan in the west. Located at the intersection of Yellow River Delta Efficient Ecological Economic Zone, Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone and Jinan Metropolitan Area, it is one of the core cities of Shandong Peninsula urban agglomeration.

Linzi District of Zibo City is a famous national historical and cultural city with a long history. Linzi, Zibo is the capital of ancient Qi State, the birthplace of Qi culture and world football, and is known as "Oriental ancient Rome". The place names of Zibo were formed in the early 1920s. It turned out to be a combination of Zichuan and Boshan, and Zibo is one of the civilized cities in China.

Zibo is a cluster city with a combination of mountains and rivers, including Boshan national scenic spot, resource-based city and national old industrial base, the first batch of industrial transformation and upgrading demonstration zones in China, and Shandong regional equity exchange market (Qilu equity exchange center).

Zibo Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone belongs to Shandong Peninsula National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, and Zhangdian District of Zibo City is a national demonstration base for mass entrepreneurship and innovation. In June 2020, it was selected as the first batch of national demonstration areas and projects for the construction of a government ruled by law by the Central Committee for Governing the Country by Law.
