Yiyuan cherry is a specialty of Yanyan Town, Yiyuan County, Zibo City, Shandong Province. Yanya cherry is known as the "queen of fruits" because of its thick flesh, soft flesh, juicy, sweet and sour taste, rich nutrition and rich vitamin C. Yiyuan Big Cherry won the national geographical indication certification trademark.
Yanya Town, Yiyuan County is located in the south of Yiyuan County, with an average elevation of 480 meters. It is rich in species and diverse in vegetation, with a forest coverage rate of 60%. Hongqi Reservoir, the highest medium-sized reservoir in Shandong Province, is located in the territory. Baima River runs through the east and west, and the Iraqi River runs through the southeast. The air is humid, the illumination time is long, the temperature difference between day and night is large, the climate is suitable, and the sand and mountain spring water are rich, forming a unique natural environment and a distinct microclimate. It is a high-quality big cherry. Good ecological environment and advanced production technology have created the unique qualities of "Yanya Big Cherry": large fruit, kidney-shaped, short stalk, red to purple peel, bright color and beautiful appearance. The average fruit weight is 9.6g, and the maximum fruit can reach 12g. Thick flesh, soft flesh, juicy and delicious, sweet and sour, rich in nutrition, rich in vitamin C, its nutritional value ranks first among all kinds of fruits, so it is known as the "fruit queen". Hongguang is the main variety of Yanya cherry, and its fruit ripens earlier. Greenhouse planting, listed in April, open cultivation can be picked in the middle and late May. The fruit growth period of Yanya cherry is in the late spring and early summer, and the pests have not yet started to move, so there is no need to use pesticides to kill insects, and there is no pesticide pollution to the fruit. It is a veritable organic food and is deeply loved by consumers.
Yanya Town has a long history of planting cherries. According to legend, during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, large families in Yanya, Niulang and other villages around Daxian Mountain had the habit of planting small cherries (commonly known as hairy cherries) in front of and behind their houses, and began to domesticate and plant cherries artificially. Large-scale promotion began in the 1990s, and in 2005, the county's first organic big cherry production base was built, with a core area of 200 hectares. Up to now, it has grown to an area of 2,000 hectares, including 400 hectares planted in greenhouses in winter and 500 hectares planted in greenhouses in spring, forming an industrial pattern of seasonal production and listing in open fields in winter and spring. In order to further meet the needs of market development, improve quality and efficiency, and increase farmers' income, Yanya Town insists on paying equal attention to scale, quality and benefit, comprehensively implements standardized production of big cherries, and improves the production quality of big cherries. Professor Gao Dongsheng of Shandong Agricultural University was hired as a technical consultant to guide the technical research and guidance of organic big cherry, and according to international and national standards, the "Operating Rules of Organic Big Cherry Production Technology in Yiyuan County" was formulated and popularized in the whole town. The production quality of big cherry has been greatly improved. It was recognized as "pollution-free agricultural products in Shandong Province" by the Provincial Department of Agriculture in April 2002 and "pollution-free agricultural products" by the Ministry of Agriculture in June 2004. In April 2005, it was recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture as the first "pollution-free big cherry" in China. In 2007, China Fruit Circulation Association awarded Yiyuan County the title of "Key County of China Quality Fruit Base" and Yanyan Cherry the title of "China Famous Fruit"; In July 2008, it was recognized as "National Big Cherry Standardization Demonstration Zone" by the Ministry of Agriculture; In 2005 and 2008, the two companies built two high-standard organic cherry bases with a certified area of 266 hectares; On may 20th,11won the 5th China gold medal of biofach.
