Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences is located in Heilongtan Scenic Area in the northern suburb of Kunming, known as "Spring City", and was founded in 1938. After nearly 70 years of discipline accumulation, the Institute has become an influential botanical research institution at home and abroad. The older generation of botanists in China, including Hu Xiansu, Yan Chujiang, Zheng, Wang Fahuan, Yu Dexun, Cai, Chen Fenghuai and Wu Zhengyi, have successively served here. The Institute owns the State Key Laboratory of Phytochemistry and Sustainable Utilization of Plant Resources in Western China, the Research Laboratory of Biogeography and Ecology (the Key Laboratory of Biodiversity and Biogeography and the Laboratory of Ethnobotany) and the Kunming Botanical Garden, and is building the National Science Project "China Southwest Wildlife Germplasm Resource Bank". The Institute has a variety of large and medium-sized modern instruments and equipment, such as 400 MHz and 500 MHz superconducting nuclear magnetic resonance vibrators, high-resolution mass spectrometers, ultrafrozen centrifuges and laser focusing microscopes. The herbarium collects more than 65,438+200,000 kinds of plant specimens, and the library has 270,000 books. The newly-built library, network information center, herbarium, property center building, cultural square and two newly renovated graduate apartments provide good technical support and logistics services for the Institute to carry out its work in an all-round way. There are 220 on-the-job scientific research managers, including 3 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Kunming Institute of Botany began to recruit master students from 1979 and doctoral students from 1986. At present, there are 254 doctoral and master students. Master's degree and doctor's degree in botany, medicinal chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. There are 28 doctoral supervisors and more than 20 master supervisors. 199 1 approved by the Ministry of personnel to set up a postdoctoral research mobile station in biology.
