The bridge project includes the four-story interchange hub project (implemented in two phases, the first phase does not include the four-story interchange hub project), which is composed of a single-tower cable-stayed bridge and a T-shaped steel structure. The total investment of the project is about 248 million yuan, the total length of the main bridge is 5 16.3 meters, the main span is 200 meters, and the total width of the bridge deck is 23.9 meters, including 23 pairs of single towers. The span of stay cables is 150m, the span of T-shaped rigid frame is 50m, the main girder is prestressed concrete double longitudinal ribs, and the total height of main tower is 180.8m, which is the leading height of similar bridges in China. Design load is above steam -20, trailer-120. The first phase of the bridge started in June 2002 and was completed and opened to traffic in February 2004 with an investment of 200 million yuan. The bridge was designed by the Highway Planning, Survey and Design Institute of the Provincial Communications Department, and the main construction units were Panzhihua Bridge Engineering Company and the Second Bureau of the Ministry of Railways. It has been accepted by the provincial highway quality supervision station and rated as an excellent project. The outstanding feature of this bridge is that Bingcaogang Jinsha River Bridge is an asymmetric bridge composed of rigid-flexible systems, namely single-tower cable-stayed bridge and T-shaped rigid frame. At present, only three bridges in China adopt this technology. One is Guangdong Jinma Bridge, the other is Zhejiang Ningbo Zhaobaoshan Bridge, and the third is Bingcaogang Bridge. The first two bridges are on the eastern coast, and the Bingcaogang Bridge is the first bridge of this structure in the west. On the slope at the southern end of Bingcaogang Bridge, the Swiss patent SNS flexible protection treatment technology is adopted, which is the first time that this technology has been used in highway bridges in our province. The technology of improving the density and strength of concrete by adding silica fume was also used earlier in highway bridges all over the country.

The bridge closely connects the plant area of Pangang (Group) Company with Bingcaogang City in Panzhihua, making the roads with different plane heights in this mountain city form an organic urban traffic, which is a milestone in the history of highway construction in Panzhihua. It marks the initial formation of the urban road network with Bingcaogang Bridge as the hub and adapted to Panzhihua's emerging industrial city, which has improved Panzhihua's urban taste and image, accelerated the urbanization process in the east and west, and promoted the large-scale industrial development led by Pangang Industrial Park.
