An eyewitness who went to the scene after the incident said that the 18 1 1 room was originally a small apartment of 44 square meters. After the gas explosion, the surrounding walls collapsed and became a large apartment of about 300 square meters. The area of 300 square meters was a mess, and everything was blown up.

Neighbors speculated that it might be a gas suicide accident. After the man left, the woman opened the gas valve, causing gas leakage, and the ignition caused an explosion.

The management committee of Zhengdong New District informed that 1 person was burned by a natural gas explosion accident and is currently being treated in the hospital. The explosion also caused more than ten houses in Building 3 and some vehicles downstairs to be damaged to varying degrees. The specific cause of the accident is under investigation.

After the incident, water, electricity and gas were cut off in Building 3 of Zhong Kai Huafu. Residents on floors 17 and 18 were asked to leave their houses for temporary residence, and elevators were suspended.
