Huxian Botanical Garden was founded in 1983 and opened to the public on 1988. In 2008, it was included in the system of China Academy of Sciences and listed as Huxian Botanical Garden of China Academy of Sciences. In just over 30 years, Huxian Botanical Garden has developed from a little-known local botanical garden to a core member of the National Botanical Garden Alliance and an important member of the International Botanical Garden Protection Alliance.

At present, there are 17 special botanical gardens in the park, which collect nearly 9000 species of plants, and the number of plant species ranks among the top in China. The research project on the collection and protection of Cycas, Magnolia, Pteridophyte and other plant groups has been included in the national special fund for strategic plant resources.

Shenzhen Huxian Botanical Garden is located in the northeast suburb of Shenzhen, with Wutong Mountain, the highest peak in Shenzhen, in the east and Shenzhen Reservoir in the west. Covering an area of 588 hectares, it was founded in 1983 and officially opened to the public in 1988. It is a famous botanical garden and scenic spot integrating scientific research, popular science and tourism.

Fairy Lake is a collection of Wu Tong mountain springs at the bottom of the valley, with an area of about 150 mu and the deepest point of about 8 meters. The lake is clear, surrounded by coconut trees, bamboo and green hills, and it is an ideal place for urbanites to relax.
