1, a pure pointer, is the oldest water meter data display method. The red pointer can be ignored. We can read directly from the black pointer. This kind of water meter is rare now, but some units will use this pure pointer water meter for the total water meter.

1, select the water meter specification.

Because the stability and durability of water meter's working performance under common flow rate are the best, which meets the design requirements. If the water pipe has a surplus considering the future water flow capacity, the caliber specification can be reduced when selecting the water meter. If the pipe with a diameter of 200mm has insufficient flow, a water meter with a diameter of 150mm can be selected.

When the future flow increases to the normal flow of 200mm pipeline, replace the water meter with the same caliber. Users in industries with high water consumption can choose a large-caliber water meter, or connect several relatively small-caliber water meters in parallel, and repair or replace individual water meters that fail without affecting the normal water supply of users.

2. Select the indication type of water meter.

Generally, the word wheel is used to read clearly and easily. However, some people think that it is best to install a pointer when it is impossible to read at close range, because this type can judge the reading according to the geometric angle pointed by the pointer, without looking at the value on the scale cylinder.

In recent years, the liquid-sealed counter is popular because it overcomes the shortcoming that the general counter is hindered by rust in water for a long time. The readings of remote water meters and prepaid water meters are displayed by electronic equipment, or collected and transmitted by meter readers, but their basic water meter readings should still be kept for comparison in case of electronic equipment problems.

3. Consider the convenience of installation and maintenance.

This is especially important for large-caliber water meters. Therefore, the kind of water meter (such as detachable water meter) that can be installed, replaced or maintained without stopping water can meet these requirements. The installation length and connection mode of the water meter are also a factor to be considered, although the requirements in this respect have been stipulated in Table 1-1and Table 2 of the national water meter standard GB/T778.1996.

The water meter manufactured by implementing this standard has the same formula in installation length and connection mode. However, in recent years, some new water meters (including prepaid smart water meters) are manufactured according to enterprise standards rather than national standards, which may be different.
