Plot introduction

A bourgeois who betrays justice

Jiang () is a famous senior barrister in Hong Kong and a typical social success. Tao has a glib tongue. He likes to squeeze into the upper class and meet dignitaries. What I am good at is helping the rich to go to court, but what I am not good at is weeding out the strong and helping the weak and giving charity.

Tao is the "royal cannon" of the rich Ni (stone ornaments) (the industry calls senior lawyers "cannons"). In order to help Kun get rid of the poor widow and get back his property, Tao exposed the affair between the widow and Kun's dead father by despicable means. The widow was questioned by Tao in court, speechless, ashamed and in tears. As a result, the judge ruled in Tao's favor. Zhuang Xiaohui (Su Yuhua), the legal secretary of the Legal Aid Department in charge of this single lawsuit, feels shameless and the two become enemies.

Helping others is the foundation of happiness.

A few difficult lawsuits can come back to life when they get to the road. Tao is in high spirits, but Kun has provoked Shangguan Fei, and this trip is even more hurtful. Without his knowledge, Kun bought the witness privately and won the lawsuit, while Tao was suspected by the police of abetting the witness and had to be tried by the Bar Association. Tao and Kun turned against each other and Kun even threatened to ban him. Therefore, this is why Tao began to represent the Legal Aid Department.

The Legal Aid Department is to help people who have no financial means to go to court, that is, to help the lower classes fight for justice. Let Tao realize what is the root of helping others.

Father-daughter knot

However, there is a more important reason why Tao is willing to accept legal aid cases, that is, because his daughter Jiang Siting (Downing) works in the legal aid office, Tao hopes to get close to her and mend the relationship between father and daughter.

At that time, Tao was busy socializing and neglected his family. Eventually, he lost his family and divorced his wife Song Qihua (played), and the court gave him support. At that time, Ting was only nine years old. She always thought that Tao had failed to fulfill his responsibilities as a husband and father, so there was an irreparable gap with him.

As a practicing barrister, the purpose of the court is to prove that feelings and career can be properly taken into account, and that the father's negligence towards the family in that year is simply untenable and there is no excuse.

Be involved in a conspiracy

I worked with Tao for a long time, but by chance, he found that his father was chased by a financial company and the factory was sold at a low price 20 years ago. In fact, the finance company colluded with the buyer, and the boss of the finance company was Kun.

Xin went to great lengths to contact the owners who were forced to sell their property at a low price, and jointly requested legal aid, and outsourced the legal aid to Tao for a lawsuit, claiming the astronomical difference from Kun's company.

But Tao found himself involved in this conspiracy 20 years ago. When he first came out of the cottage, he worked with another Dazu to provide legal advice to Cheng Kun. He knew that if he fought this lawsuit, he would expose all the previous evidence and he would be accused of violating professional ethics at any time. So he was deeply ambivalent and constantly struggling.

Will Tao go back to his old ways and betray justice? The court summoned Tao to testify. Will the newly reconciled father-daughter relationship be affected again? Tao's involvement in this immoral business has violated the professional ethics of barristers. What will happen in the face of suspension crisis?
