occupation

artist

From 1982 to 1987, the significance of Beijing to Miqiu is not limited to architecture. His personal photography exhibition and abstract ink painting exhibition were also held at the same time. 1985, he even meditated for a day, played performance art, went deep into the life of poor mountainous areas such as Guangxi and Guizhou, and the upper government agencies participated in the planning, which stimulated his stomach like hot pot and cold beer. He doesn't stick to one pattern and refuses to give up. He has been on a business trip in the Ministry of Construction for five years, but his heart is jumping between various art categories. "No one can be less." Miqiu thinks that artists in the circle are terrible, isolating art into something out of sync with society, which led to a serious contraction of the tension and influence of China art in the 1990s. The tastes of young people come down in one continuous line. 10 years later, 1997, the writer Yu wrote an article "Welcome Mi Qiu", saying: "Welcome Mi Qiu means welcome his cultural attitude. In my opinion, Mi Qiu's cultural attitude can be summarized in one sentence: from confrontation to dialogue. He refused to accept all the sticky attribution, and expanded his activities to a wide range, involving modern oil painting, abstract ink painting, performing arts, performance arts, cultural planning and art management. He softened or even eliminated all the boundaries between them, so he softened or even eliminated confrontation. "

Combination of Chinese and western, both artistic and quality.

From 65438 to 0987, Mi Qiu went to Europe as a visiting scholar. After visiting Britain, France, Sweden and Norway, Mitch chose Norway. He likes Nordic people's simple feelings about land and nature.

China people like to be happy in Europe's Chinatown, but Mitch prefers to be lonely. He lived in an "aristocratic residential area" in Oslo, borrowed a large number of original English Oscar-winning videos to learn English, consciously entered the western circle without Chinese, and did not speak a word of Chinese for weeks and months, thus forcing himself to think in a foreign language. After the environment improved, he set up studios in different places, with his own assistants and professional photographers to record his creations. His secretary can speak four languages, and there are few people from China in his working environment, living environment and daily friends. The reason is that Mi Qiu just wants to "speak Western words" and really understand Western culture.

His solo exhibition and performance art of his works caused a sensation in different countries. His portrait is juxtaposed with seven other most famous Norwegian artists, and has been printed as 4 million sparks for sale in Europe.

Mitch has two representative works in Europe, one is the performance art of "fax behavior" and the other is the "European-Chinese cultural exchange plan". The former is his most successful performance art work, and the latter brought Miqiu back to China after an eight-year absence, and became the cover figure of European magazines frequently for a period of time.

1993 To coincide with World AIDS Day on February 1 day, Mi Qiu sent a letter to more than 0 countries around the world103 in advance, requesting to reply by fax around the theme of AIDS within the specified time. At that time, the fax machine in the exhibition hall was like a living body, ringing non-stop, 100 different languages of more than one country were discussing the worldwide theme of AIDS at the same time. Participants included presidents, artists, more than 400 AIDS patients, company employees, religious figures and children. Fax content includes paintings, poems and articles. Then Mitch printed all these faxes in red, and laid a large "blood channel" with a length of 148 m and a width of 4.8 m between the palace and the city hall, next to the award square of the Nobel Peace Prize. It happened to rain that day, and the blood channel was glowing red, reflecting on the faces of many tourists. Miqiu felt the communication between the living and the dead, and the purpose of artistic dialogue was achieved.

In the same year, Mitch founded the European-Chinese Cultural Exchange Program (ECCEP) as the CEO, and the institution he relied on was Heine OnStar Art Center, one of the most important art centers in Europe. Within a year, Miqiu has engaged in more than a dozen projects. 1996 held the exhibition "Five Thousand Years of China Art" in Europe, which strung together the history of China with 200 national first-class cultural relics from Chinese mainland 14 large museum, and showed Europeans the incomparable splendid ancient art of China. His design theme is air, stone, soil, only soil, so he brought 36 tons of loess (Mi Qiu is 36 years old) from the Yellow River to pave the way in the exhibition hall, paved nearly 3,000 square meters, buried 60 fiber lampposts without heat energy, made two passages of Italian granite, and the gold thread and jade clothes hung in the air, making the exhibition itself a well-designed work of art, which shocked the viewers and even made them cry. This is an unprecedented way of exhibition! In cooperation with this exhibition, a series of cultural activities related to China were held. The performances of Mei Lanfang Troupe, Shanghai Ballet, China Symposium, International Symposium on Culture and Health, and large-scale academic discussions in China and the world were all very successful.

Coming from China, knowing about the West, both art and market, is in a position of far-reaching influence on the art world-Miqiu was the only artist in China at that time and even today.

Venice biennale of architecture

At the Venice Architecture Biennale 2006, which opened on September 6th, the audience marveled at a 730-square-meter Jiangnan town-this time, it was Shanghai architect Mi Qiu who "copied" Tongli, a water town in Jiangsu, to Venice, a water city. At that time, the audience can take a boat directly from the river to the entrance of the exhibition hall.

In order to transport Tongli ancient town to Venice, Qian Shan and Mi Qiu used two containers this time. The works with the theme of Architectural Manifesto are composed of Monument, Impression of Ancient Town, Treasure Chest, Plough Hall, Wheel of Life, Meditator, Memory of Ancient Town and Ideal Architecture. Among them, the "Wooden Structure Building Model of Gengle Hall in Tongli Town" was copied from pure camphor wood 1 to 1 based on the existing Gengle Hall, which was built in the Ming Dynasty and occupied an area of 6 mu and 4 minutes.

What is even more shocking is that in the part of "Memories of Ancient Towns", a pool with a depth of one meter and a height of three meters by four meters will be used as a "screen" at the exhibition site, and the pre-shot images of the ancient buildings in Tongli will be directly projected onto this "water curtain".

The whole group of works based on Tongli will be combined by artistic means such as images, hearing and smell, giving people a sense of complete thinking. Miqiu said that the work expresses "the continuity of the past, the present and the future, re-establishes the concept of' construction', reflects on urban construction and architecture in China and the West, emphasizes the importance of the continuation and construction of historical context, and displays cultural ideals, constructs a reasonable order and realizes the ultimate goal of sustainable development through the all-round integration of historical, cultural, ecological, economic and social resources."

Live happily.

Mitch lived a lonely life in Europe for several years, but he felt that he was breathing inside. He recalled that one afternoon in the autumn of 1996, in the sunshine at four or five o'clock, the texture, material and light of Buckingham Palace in London were so beautiful that he moved to tears. In fact, what he saw was only partial. How many years have passed, what the architects left behind is still a young building.

In the autumn of this year, Miqiu went to Chongming Island, where there were many old ships with expired service bought from outside. The shipyard dismantled the equipment on the old ship and sold it, and then cut the hull steel for sale. Instead of dismantling the boat in the dock, they let it go straight to the shore and then fall like a wounded beast; Hundreds of workers then boarded the ship to cut the hull, not in an orderly and organized way, but arbitrarily dismembered the ship in the simplest and fastest way. Miqiu witnessed all this, watching the waves of the old ship washed up on the shore, killing many people and watching the "death" of a ship. He stayed there for many days and was deeply shocked. His nine-year orderly life in Europe was disrupted. Under the violence of this very uncivilized behavior, all the steel plates are twisted and all the engines are cracked. He thinks that ships also have life, experiences and stories. The shipyard's experience in Mi Qiu was a spiritual event, which continued his thinking on happy existence and his expression of the image of "flying".

About 1994, Mi Qiu was thinking about the relationship between artists and society, which led to the theme of "happy life". Life itself should be happy. But where is happiness built? History? Independent? Freedom? Dependence? Happiness is not dependence, but self-establishment. Happiness doesn't need anything extra, but an inner balance. Many of his friends have been married more than once, their lives are better than before, and their status has expanded, but they still feel unhappy.

Mitch often watches Dante's Divine Comedy and reads Dante paragraph by paragraph. The utopian architecture described in it is an absolutely artistic process. Architecture is a very mysterious thing. As a space for dialogue and balance, architecture bears heavy humanistic, religious and ideal colors. What we are proud of and inspired by is always idealized, that is, non-functional buildings. Just as he studied architecture but paid attention to the aesthetic value of architecture, Miqiu began to refine the artistic modeling that can bear the theme of happy existence.

When I was a child, the image of flying often appeared in Mi Qiu's dreams. Now, he has wings. From 1999 to now, he has created 13 works with "wings"-happiness, sadness, hope, leisure, flying and stillness. Miqiu said that wings are also living and unique to human beings. He can turn wings into hundreds of expressions, just like gestures. Wings are particularly in line with Mi Qiu's personal reality, and it is only accidental that they are fitted and recognized by the society and the public.

Characteristics of works

Miqiu belongs to the Gone with the Wind generation. In his view, the word "gone with the wind" has some brilliant ideas, including the future and the present, just like "cutting edge". After nine years of independent thinking and quiet life in Europe, he can fully identify with the values represented by Gone with the Wind. His Wing is not only a personalized artistic label, but also conforms to the values of the generation of "Gone with the Wind" and becomes a symbol of the free and relaxed life state of "Gone with the Wind".

In Mi Qiu's works, there are more elements in the future than in the past. Although due to industry reasons, he rarely contacts new humans. Mitch's friends, such as Christopher, the earth artist who tidied up the Berlin building, belong to an extremely intelligent, pure and complete category in art, and Mitch values the integrity of art. In his eyes, Li Shutong, the master of Hongyi, is very complete and comprehensive. To some extent, he is a floating consciousness, and it is easy to play with art, materials and life.

Autumn flies freely in all kinds of arts and technologies, in all kinds of regions and cultural life. He is willing to try new materials, new artistic carriers and new ways of dialogue, and certainly does not refuse to live in Oslo, new york, Beijing, Shanghai or anywhere. His passport is several times thicker than others, and many extra pages are filled with visas and entry and exit stamps from all over the world, so that he has to add pages again and again, even being suspected of being a spy when entering the customs. He has the right of abode in Europe, but the most important thing is the passport of China people. On his wrist watch, there are both the east and west hemispheres of Beijing and London. He can not only climb up and down the scaffolding of sculpture for more than ten hours in a suit of paint, but also talk about art at the party of luminous glass wine. The marriage he agrees with is an absolutely close friendship. He is a tolerant perfectionist. Just like the changeable and expressive wings in his works, Miqiu entered a "special feeling" in his "gone with the wind" life.

Successful works are also successful commodities. Mitch has a business mind, but he doesn't refuse business visitors. Because of his personal background and interests as an architect, urban planning and many artistic behaviors, he is more comprehensive and market-oriented than painters, installation artists, sculptors and architects. Under the current situation that China's urban construction is divorced from tradition, Miqiu feels that there will be demand for environmental art and the market will come soon. During the three years from 1996 to 1998, although he set up a modern art studio, he hardly did any projects in China, or at least did something that was not suitable for his own style and did not receive any money. Because the market at that time was unacceptable to him. One is that environmental art is easily misinterpreted and changed by collaborators, and the other is that the bid does not meet its own standards. Mitch believes that this is not out of arrogance, but a basic requirement for artists with social responsibility and conscience. The important thing of environmental art is to produce "dialogue", pay attention to society and be concerned by society at the same time.

"Wings" hovers in Mi Qiu's artistic world, seeking the opportunity for environmental art to "land" freely in China. The best enterprises in China began to accept Miqiu's environmental art and almost 100% respected his creation. 1999, Mi Qiu thinks that at least three works 100% meet his own requirements: the survival avenue of Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town; Environmental Art Modeling of Shanghai Ningshou Mansion: The Dice of Life by the World Gold Council-all three works are based on the theme of "Happiness and Survival". China Life Insurance Shanghai Company said that with so many houses built, Mi Qiu's works had an unprecedented effect. Shenzhen OCT is going to let Miqiu build an ecological park again. The Dice of Life won Miqiu the title of Millennium Gold Craftsman, and the original will be auctioned in July, after which Miqiu still owns its copyright.

1At the end of 999, the Yantian District Government supported Mi Qiu's "modernism" and environmental art in the name of the government for the first time in China. This is Shenzhen Dameisha's "WISH2000 Art Plan". It is also the largest and most comprehensive environmental art work in China so far. It consists of four parts: wish tower, sculpture group, multimedia device and website performance art. In Shenzhen, a city whose history is so thin that no one can tell the origin of the name Dameisha, Miqiu's environmental art aims to participate in the creation of new culture in Shenzhen.

In June 2000, in front of Beijing Oriental Plaza, the stainless steel sculpture Happy March (also known as Gone with the Wind) with a height of 5 meters and a width of 4.8 meters became one of the most modern public arts in Beijing. Mitch said it was a neutral human body, enjoying freedom.

For the sake of environmental art, Mi Qiu now travels in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, new york and Europe, and enjoys it. "WISH2000 Art Project" was held in new york at the same time. He has made 20 sculptures there this year and is choosing a third country to carry out this project, in order to wish people all over the world a happy life in the new millennium.

On the theme of environmental art in Mi Qiu's creation, he wrote a poem: Happiness, the hope/flight pursued by human beings for generations, has always been the idol of hope/in a situation full of mutations and challenges/the infinity of history and future/the eternal fantasy of technology and art/the brilliant reflection of light-becoming a universal element of harmony/a peaceful world reappearance. In 2000, there will be hundreds of wings flying in the world, and there will be more cities in China.

Mitch, a boyfriend artist from Shu Gao, is a well-known artist. His creative practice covers many fields such as art, architecture, environment and landscape design. He put forward the concept of "art" and participated in the planning and transformation of 24 historical and cultural cities and 44 national scenic spots in China.
