Guantao Road modern architecture is a cultural relic protection unit in Shandong Province.

Guantao Road is an old street with concentrated old buildings in Shibei District.

Guantao Road starts from Tangyi Road in the south, ends at Enxian Road in the north, and intersects Shanghai Road, Ningbo Road and Guangdong Road vertically, with a total length of 1 000m. Guantao Road was initially built 1899. Because it is close to the customs, Houhai Wharf and Dagang Railway Station, the German municipal authorities have planned it as a "foreign exchange zone", and many institutions from all over the world in Qingdao came here first.

In the first decade of the 20th century, with the development of import and export trade, many branches of foreign banks came here to set up. In 1930s, Guantao Road has become the financial and economic center of Qingdao, affecting the economy in East China and the export entrepot trade in coastal areas.

There are more than 50 foreign firms on Guantao Road, most of which are branches of big companies such as Germany, Japan, the United States, Britain, France, Denmark, Belgium and Portugal.

There are 25 historic buildings in Guantao Road, accounting for 7 1% of the total number of existing buildings. Among them, there are 14 outstanding historical buildings in German and Japanese styles, including 12 in German or European styles.

There are not many tourists here. It's quiet. There are German-style buildings on both sides of the road, and there are several literary youth hostels here.
