Hongkou football stadium is the first professional football stadium in China and the home of Shanghai Shenhua Football Club, the China Football Association Super League. Hongkou football stadium is located at No.444 Dongjiangwan Road, Hongkou District, Shanghai, with Lu Xun Park in the east, Dongjiangwan Road in the west, Sichuan North Road in the south and Dalian West Road in the north. Hongkou football stadium/KLOC-0 started construction on February 22, 1998, and/KLOC-0 was completed on February 22, 1999, and officially opened on March 4 of the same year. The total construction area is 72,900 square meters and the audience seats are 35,000.

Since its establishment, hongkou football stadium has successfully hosted all the home games of Shenhua Team in the National Football League, successfully hosted the A3 Champions Cup, the Four-country Invitational Tournament and various commercial international and domestic competitions. In 2007, due to the hosting of the Women's World Cup, hongkou football stadium carried out a comprehensive renovation of the stadium, including the main stadium, supporting buildings and the overall environment, and updated the lawn, large screen, technical lighting, steel structure, as well as all supporting systems such as broadcasting, air conditioning, fire control, monitoring and electrical.

The stadium square has been resurfaced with underground supporting facilities and the ground, updated with floodlighting and signage system, reconstructed with loop lanes, and adjusted with environmental greening and road configuration. After replacement and cleaning, the glass curtain wall and diamond curtain wall on the main facade of the stadium were installed with charming lighting system, which made the facade of the stadium look brand-new like a colorful diamond.
