Nanshan District is located on the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary. It is high in the north and low in the south, with plains, terraces and hills alternating. From north to south, the terrain can be divided into three levels: the northern hilly area, the central hilly platform and the southern area. The terrain gradually decreases from north to south.
