Legal basis: Article 49 of the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste. Any unit or individual shall put the domestic garbage into the designated place according to law. It is forbidden to dump, scatter, pile up or burn domestic garbage at will. Institutions should play a leading role in the classification of domestic waste. Domestic waste that has been classified and put into use shall be collected, transported and treated in accordance with the provisions.
