Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Metro Group"), formerly known as Shenzhen Metro Co., Ltd., was established on July 3 1998, and was officially renamed as "Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd." in April 2009.

As a large state-owned enterprise authorized by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shenzhen, the Group is an independent legal person who undertakes the investment and financing, construction and operation of Shenzhen urban rail transit and the preservation and appreciation of state-owned assets. The business scope covers the construction, operation, development and comprehensive utilization of urban rail transit projects, industrial investment, domestic commerce, material supply and marketing, advertising business, self-owned property management, rail transit related business design, consulting and education and training.
