Abstract: Kunyu River is an important water system running through the west of Beijing, with a long history, rich surrounding commercial, cultural and residential resources and unique location advantages. How to make Kunyu River closely connected with many surrounding resources, play a more active role in contemporary urban life, create more humanized public places and establish a modern leisure waterfront open space model is the core of this project.

Planning and Design of Kunyu River Ecological Waterfront Corridor

Abstract: Kunyu River, which runs across the western part of Beijing, has a long historical and cultural tradition, rich commercial, cultural and residential resources, and obvious location advantages. The core of this project is to make rivers connect various resources along the line, play a more active role in modern urban life, create more humanized public places and establish modern leisure waterfront space.

In May 2005, the international bidding scheme of "Beijing Kunyu River Ecological Waterscape Corridor and Tsinghua Ximen to Wofosi Road Greening Landscape Planning" was announced, and the joint scheme of EDSA Oriental and Beijing Landscape Architecture Design Institute won the first place in this competition and became the final implementation scheme.

By thinking about the existing problems in the waterfront space of modern China caused by the design of this case, I hope that * * * will promote the urban construction of China and improve the urban living environment.

1. Take Kunyu River as an example to discuss the problems existing in domestic waterfront areas.

A number of large and medium-sized cities, represented by Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, have gradually entered a new stage of pursuing urban characteristics and quality after experiencing rapid development and accumulation in the early stage of reform and opening up. Urban waterfront space will inevitably become the focus of people's attention, but most urban waterfront spaces in China have long been lost in the blind pursuit of scale and speed, and cannot play their due positive role in urban life.

There are three main problems in Kunyu River at present:

1. 1 has no connection with the resources of surrounding cities.

"Kunyu River Ecological Waterscape Corridor" starts from Gongmen Road newly built in the Summer Palace in the north and ends at the west side of Bayi Lake Bridge in the south, with a total length of about 10km. The corridor connects the Summer Palace, Wanliu Golf and Community, Luxun Cultural Park, Linglong Tower, Jinyuan Times Shopping Center, CCTV Building and yuyuantan park in series, and contains many cultural, entertainment, commercial and residential resources. But at present, the relationship between Kunyu River and these resources is passive.

1.2 has poor accessibility and does not make good use of hydrophilic space.

At present, both sides of Kunyu River are urban roads. It seriously hinders the connection between pedestrians and rivers, and the accessibility of hydrophilic space is very poor.

There are more than 20 new and old buildings on both sides of Kunyu River, and the residential land accounts for about 80% of the total land around. The sales price of the building benefited from the Kunyu River, but the residents failed to enjoy the hydrophilic environment, and the urine across the road blocked the residents' hydrophilic desire.

1.3 has a single function and lacks living facilities.

With people's pursuit of living environment, it provides a new stage for waterfront space. However, at present, the function of the single landscape waterway of Kunyu River is far from enough to meet the needs of the times. Within the range of 10km, there are almost no other waterfront services except Binjiaoyuan restaurant, and the functional value provided by the good landscape conditions of Kunyu River is seriously reduced, but the area that should be an urban leisure activity is silent.

The above problems of Kunyu River are also common in the waterfront areas of other cities in China. These problems reflect the embarrassing state of most waterfront areas at present, and deserve the attention of peers and relevant government departments.

2. Establish overall daily standards and planning principles.

In view of the above problems, we put forward the corresponding overall goals and planning principles: by introducing the world's advanced concepts and high-quality design, under the basic planning principles of historical features protection, ecological environment protection, overall design, people-oriented, sustainable development, recreation and tourism, Kunyu River will become the real "first tour" image on water in Beijing; Integrate and contact the surrounding urban resources to provide the citizens with rich and most dynamic urban waterfront space; Taking the 2008 Olympic Games as an opportunity, the brand of "Oriental Kunyuhe" will go global.

The whole scheme is designed according to the overall requirements of a famous cultural city and a livable city. It organically combines the protection of the ancient capital with the display of the new image of the capital. According to the idea of sustainable development, we should learn from the famous excellent river landscape design cases of France Seine and Germany Rhine, give full play to the ecological environment value of "water", and make the Kunyu river landscape ecological corridor better reflect the unique features of new Beijing.

3. Planning countermeasures

In view of the above problems, we propose solutions from three main aspects: landscape, traffic and function:

3. 1. 1 Increase hydrophilic space.

In the design of the whole basin of Kunyu River, the construction of hydrophilic space has always been emphasized as one of the basic goals. The construction of hydrophilic spaces in different sections is closely related to the important urban resources around them, and there is an inevitable and natural connection between them, and then these important urban elements are integrated into the waterfront space of Kunyu River.

For example, in the node design of CCTV Tower, with the theme of "Yue Long Blue Clothes", relying on the circular platform of TV Tower, by changing or increasing the entrance of TV Tower Square, circular waterfront trails with different radii are formed around TV Tower, so that it is organically connected with Kunyu River.

The green land at the intersection of Changhe River and Kunyu River has a good scenery, and the small profit of road planning has a great influence. As a result, roads were removed, green spaces were preserved and expanded into green islands, adding a pleasant hydrophilic platform.

3. 1.2 coastline diversification

At present, the bank protection of Kunyu River is close to 10km, giving people a relatively dull visual experience. In order to create a beautiful psychological feeling for tourists on cruise ships and vehicles on both sides of the strait, we have reformed the revetment in some areas. On the one hand, softening treatment is adopted to create a landscape in harmony with nature; On the other hand, the participation of the hydrophilic area is enhanced by increasing the channels and viewing platforms connected with the revetment.

3. 1.3 Setting up landscape control points

The main urban landscapes around the two banks of the river are incorporated into the landscape system of Kunyu River, and landscape control points are set at regular intervals. The scenery of Kunyu River is full of rhythm, which also makes Kunyu River an important window to display its resources on both sides of the strait, leading tourists and citizens to complete the tour of Kunyu River in the excitement of a short break, and fully displaying the city face with profound cultural accumulation and vitality.

We collectively call these landscape control points "Ten Scenes of Kunyu", which are embedded in the banks of Kunyu River like pearls, and give them poetic and classical names, such as "Clear Water in Twin Towers", "Pine Wind and Bamboo Snow", "Xinqiao Wine Curtain", "Hongqiao on Long Island", "Songdao Grass Trail", "China City Lantern" and "Lotus Boat Drunk Late".

3.2 Traffic

The scheme emphasizes the rationality of traffic streamline. Under feasible conditions, the local planned roads will be rerouted to expand the hydrophilic space; The accessibility of hydrophilic space is solved by underground passages and aerial trails. On the basis of the overall planning of road structure, according to the design requirements, a large number of pedestrian traffic lines are added in the plot, and pedestrian squares are set up in the main node space. In this plan, water cruise lines will be included in the scope of traffic design, and docks will be set up in major places to facilitate tourists to visit and enter. Due to the separation of Kunyu River from the surrounding residential land by Landianchang South Road, in the planning, Landianchang South Road will be diverted near some sections and its auxiliary roads; At the same time, a green isolation belt of 30-40m was designed between the south road of Landianchang and its auxiliary road to eliminate the meager profit factor formed after diversion. In addition, through the design of the underground passage, the surrounding residents can easily reach the riverside green space.

3.3 Functional aspects

The core content of this plan, through rigorous and imaginative conception, establishes the planning framework of "one chain of states and six sections", and integrates or newly delineates some functional nodes. We summarize it as "seeing, tasting, visiting and swimming" in popular language, trying to express the most fashionable and regional picture of urban life in the most popular language, show the historical charm and charm of the Kunyu River and realize tourism projects at the same time.

"One chain" refers to the construction of a landscape chain that runs through large and small scenic spots and open spaces through the formation of Kunyu River Corridor. "Six plates" are six unique landscape plates with the theme of "water" in this chain, which realize different functional divisions according to their specific conditions and form six core landscape areas with different styles.

"Shuangta Qingshui District" is located on the south side from Chegongzhuang Bridge to CCTV Tower, and is planned as an entertainment and cultural district. Combine CCTV Tower, Cishou Temple Tower and ruiyun temple to create a space with the characteristics of China's history and modern culture. Poetry, calligraphy, storytelling, classical drama, dance and other activities will all find their own space here. The living and leisure area is located in the "waterfront Hong Fei section" from Chegongzhuang Bridge to Chedaogou Bridge. It is planned to be a boat-shaped island to provide supplies for the surrounding residents, and it is another good place to relax on the Kunyu River. "Changhe Shuiwan Section" is located in the north of Chedaogou Bridge to Changchun Bridge, and is designated as a cultural and artistic area. Art salons, art exhibitions and other related activities are the focus of this part. The Shuiyue Flower City Section from Changchun Bridge North to Yuanda North Road will take Jinyuan Times Shopping Center as the core, and provide a good shopping environment for tourists and surrounding residents through squares, leisure bars, teahouses, etc., and become the theme commercial recreation area of "Shuilusong Island Section". From the north of Yuanda North Road to Huoqiying Bridge, there will be ecological experience projects such as wetland observation, boating and stream fishing, as well as outdoor tennis and basketball, jogging and cycling. The area north of Huoqiying Bridge is named "Yushui Palace Wall Section", which is the location of natural tourist area. Through the commercial pedestrian street and supporting parking lot designed outside the Summer Palace, the entrance front area of the Summer Palace providing supporting tourism services is formed. "Look" is to climb the CCTV building, see the beautiful scenery of Beijing and show off your style; Then "taste" and enjoy the delicious food and leisurely waterfront life of Kunyu River; Tired of taking a cruise, take a "stroll" halfway and experience Beijing's fashionable life in Jinyuan Business Center; Finally, I arrived at the Summer Palace for a "tour" and enjoyed the charm of the royal garden. The trip to Kunyu River reached its climax.

Diversified modes of transportation. On the water route, tourists are organized to visit various characteristic tourist areas from Heyuan to the downstream through small yachts, and cruise terminals are set up at major scenic spots. By controlling the tonnage and horsepower of yachts, the contradiction between yachts and ecological river bank protection can be adjusted. The waterfront tour line adopts the combination of walking, and the battery car tour line is set up by using the south road of Landianchang, which combines flood control with tourism and landscape. More rest and sightseeing facilities have been set up along the river promenade.

4. Conclusion

As a political, economic and cultural center of a certain region and a city with non-agricultural population gathering place, ecological construction is becoming the general trend and development direction. The planning of Kunyu River ecological waterscape corridor emphasizes the effective utilization and reuse of limited resources of regional ecological environment, and tries to make Kunyu River ecological waterscape corridor a model of sustainable development and ecological construction in Beijing.

We not only pursue ecological optimization, but also pay attention to respect for history and culture. There are dense historical sites and scenic spots on both sides of Kunyu River, including world cultural heritage, buildings and gardens with strong regional characteristics, which are vivid historical materials of Beijing's historical evolution and civilization inheritance, reflecting the cultural development process and the historical memory of the city. On the premise of giving consideration to the protection needs of historical sites on both sides of Kunyu River and the needs of different groups in real society, these historical heritages are given new vitality and orientation of the times, so as to adapt them to the real environment. In the future, Kunyu River will become an open waterfront space with multiple functions such as leisure, tourism, culture and ecology, integrating fashion and history. It will integrate the resources of many surrounding cities and become the best spokesman of Beijing's historical context.

We believe that the ecological waterscape corridor of Kunyu River will realize the perfect unity of social benefits, economic benefits and ecological benefits, become a unique urban landscape in Beijing's urban texture, and play a positive demonstration role for the development of China's urban waterfront open space.
