The history of the world tower

The original site of the World Building is the General Post Office of Hong Kong, which was once called the "Trust Building". /kloc-in the 1970s, in order to build an underground railway central station, the General Post Office moved to the present site of Le Kang Square, and the original building was demolished.

Because the property will be redeveloped after the completion of the subway, this superior land king became the most eye-catching property development plan of the subway that year. The reconstruction plan was invited for bidding on June 1977. As a result, Changjiang Industry, a subsidiary of Li Ka-shing, beat the Central Landlord Land Company to win the bid. Cheung Kong Industrial sold the Global Building in layers in May, 1978, and it was all sold out within 8 hours, with a total turnover of HK$ 592 million, a record at that time.

With the completion of the subway project, the World Building was completed and put into use in 198 1.
