Do you still believe your eyes?

There is an old saying in China: Seeing is believing, but hearing is empty. But this sentence was subverted a little bit. It seems that what our ancestors left behind may not be all right.

I remember the earliest story about Confucius and Yan Hui. Yan Hui, a student of Confucius, was cooking porridge when he suddenly found something dirty falling into the pot. He quickly scooped it up with a spoon and was about to dump it. Suddenly, he thought that a porridge and a meal were hard to come by, so he ate it. Just then, Confucius went into the kitchen and thought that Yan Hui was stealing food, so he taught him a good lesson. After explanation, Confucius suddenly realized. Confucius said with emotion that what I saw with my own eyes was not true, let alone hearsay.

I watched a funny video some time ago, probably saying that a family bought a house, and every day when the train passed by, the bed would shake. One day, the man went to work, and the woman called the property manager to say this. The woman said, if you don't believe me, you can lie in bed and feel for yourself. The man came back as soon as the owner of the property lay down. The person in the property said awkwardly, do you believe me when I said I was lying in your bed waiting for the train?

Although it is just a funny little video, it reflects that even what we see with our eyes is not necessarily true, and sometimes it is one-sided and not necessarily the true face of things. If you always trust your eyes and lack rational discrimination and thinking, you will often be confused by one-sided illusions, just like the story of a blind man touching an elephant and peeping at a leopard in a tube. Sometimes, even if you see it with your own eyes, you may not be able to see things as they really are. Many truths in the world need to be felt and understood with heart, and all paranoia and self-righteousness need to be put aside, and the truth and falsehood need to be distinguished with a clever mind.
