What is the planting method of turf?

When the grass seeds and the site are ready, you can plant the lawn. There are two methods for lawn establishment: seed (sexual) reproduction and vegetative (asexual) reproduction. Seed propagation methods can be divided into direct seeding, planting belt construction and spray seeding. The asexual propagation method can be divided into turf spreading method and stem sowing method. The choice of planting method should be determined according to the existing propagation materials, the growth characteristics of lawn grass, planting funds and time requirements. Seed propagation method is generally the first choice for lawn grass which is easy to obtain pure and energetic seeds. However, for impure seeds with insufficient vitality, asexual propagation is selected. Seed propagation method is low in cost, but slow in speed; The vegetative propagation method is faster, but the cost is higher.

(1) Seed direct seeding method for turf establishment.

Direct seeding of seeds is a method of directly building turf with seeds. Most cool-season turfgrasses are built by direct seeding, while in warm-season turfgrasses, centipedegrass, carpet grass, weeds, Zoysia japonica, Bahia grass and Bermuda grass can be built by direct seeding.

(2) Planting belts are used to build lawns.

Planting belt is a new technology in lawn planting, which is formed by fixing seeds and additives evenly between two layers of non-woven fabrics or other materials through special technology. When planting, just like laying a carpet, the planting belt (paper) is laid flat on the lawn bed and covered with a thin layer of soil. A few days later, the non-woven fabric (paper) as a carrier rotted in the soil, and the seeds germinated and grew to form a lawn. The planting belt has the characteristics of convenient transportation, convenient sowing, uniform seed density, uniform seedling emergence, no need for special sowing machinery, adaptability to terrain with different slopes, and prevention of seed loss. Suitable for planting small and medium-sized lawns, especially for planting lawns with small slopes and dikes.

(3) spray seeding method for turf building

Lawn spray sowing method, referred to as "spray sowing" for short, refers to a lawn planting method that uses water as a carrier and sprays lawn seeds, auxin, soil improver, compound fertilizer and other components on the surface through special equipment to generate lawn, thus achieving the effect of greening and beautifying. Spraying grass is a new technology for successfully planting lawn in recent years. When spraying sowing, the processes of sowing, fertilizing and covering are completed at one time, which improves the speed and quality of lawn planting. It uses a spraying unit equipped with an air compressor to directly spray viscous mixed straw pulp mixed with grass seeds, adhesives, fertilizers, humectants, covering materials, dyes and herbicides. And water are sprayed on a flat site or a steep slope. Because the sprayed straw pulp has good adhesion and obvious color, it can be sprayed evenly, without omission or repetition. The mixed straw pulp will not flow when sprayed on the flat bed, and it will be firm after drying, which can prevent scouring. Under good moisturizing conditions, grass seeds can germinate and grow quickly to form a new lawn. Therefore, the spray seeding method is especially suitable for the site with rough surface and inconvenient manual or mechanical land preparation, and the conventional planting method can not achieve the ideal effect. Spray seeding method can be used for greening subgrade and slope of highway and railway, slope protection of dams of rivers and reservoirs, isolation belts and slope protection on both sides of expressways, and also for planting large lawns such as golf courses and airports.

(4) Turf method

Laying lawn is a traditional method of establishing lawn by asexual reproduction in China. The propagation material used is turf or grass blanket, that is, a small amount of turf or grass blanket grows into turf through branching, tillering and creeping. Turf laying is the most expensive lawn planting method. However, any kind of lawn grass can be used to build "instant lawn" at any time of the year, so it is often used to build emergency lawns, repair partially damaged lawns or build small lawns with special needs.

(5) Stem sowing method

Stem-sowing method is a lawn-building method which takes the stem of lawn as "seed" and spreads it evenly on the lawn bed, and forms the lawn through watering, fertilization and other management. Turfgrass with stolons can be planted by sowing young branches (single plant) and stolons with several nodes. Lawn grasses planted by stems include Bermuda grass, Zoysia japonica, creeping bentgrass, creeping bentgrass and carpet grass.
