Is there any requirement for English in bank work?
The six major state-owned banks have relatively strict requirements for English, basically requiring CET-4 or above. Joint-stock banks and local banks will relax their requirements in this respect and need to provide English education certificates, such as TOEFL, IELTS and TOEIC scores. Banks that must pass Grade 4: such as Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of Communications, China Construction Bank and Bank of Qingdao.
Not all banks have requirements for CET-4. For example, the recruitment of rural credit cooperatives in various provinces is generally not required. Some banks do not require CET-4 for branches or front-line positions in remote areas. Most city commercial banks do not have such requirements, such as Nanjing Bank and Jiangsu Bank. So partners with poor English can try the local bank.
