2. According to the classification of ships.

It can be divided into a first-class certificate of competency, a second-class certificate of competency and a third-class certificate of competency (that is, ships with a gross tonnage of more than 3,000 tons or a main propulsion device of more than 3,000 kilowatts, ships with a gross tonnage of 500 tons to 3,000 tons or a main propulsion device of 750 to 3,000 kilowatts, and ships with a gross tonnage of less than 500 tons or a main propulsion device of less than 750 kilowatts). )

However, the certificates of competency of sailors and mechanics on duty are only 500 gross tons or ships of 750 kilowatts and above.

3, according to the crew position and department.

Deck Department: The captain, first mate, second mate, third mate and sailor on duty are collectively called crew members, and the first mate, second mate and third mate of deck department are called drivers.

Engine Department: The chief engineer, the second tube wheel, the third tube wheel and the mechanic on duty are called crew members of the engine department, and the second tube wheel and the third tube wheel are collectively called engineers.
