Notes on Notes of Mountain Residence

Notes on Mountain Residence is the second anthology of Mr. Yu that I read after Cultural Journey. I think it's because I really like it, I think it's because of the intense hype, I think it's because of its humanistic atmosphere. Mr. Yu's book begins behind a dynasty and ends in a dark corner of history. This book was published on June 5438+ 10, 2003. In the preface of this new edition, he said that he had written this book for more than two years (1992 to 1994), and the sacrifice was considerable. He resigned from the administrative position of the college, almost purely. Only eleven articles took more than two years. This is not that his writing efficiency is low, but that he has a tenacious spirit of exploration. It is his earnest attitude and endless pursuit that makes people impressed. Over the years, through walking and thinking, he organically combined writing and investigation, and visited and verified many places he wrote. Once, in order to check the two words on the couplet of an ancient site in Hainan Island, he had to go to Hainan again in person after several letters and inquiries failed to get an accurate answer. Many times, he had to go there again and again. He is not stingy with the pursuit of truth and unparalleled love for literature, regardless of time or money. For his articles, he really "knows the gains and losses" and doesn't care about his economy and gains and losses. According to Mr. Yu, "the whole book is the second stage of my direct visit to Chinese civilization." He also said: "The biggest difficulty in writing this book lies not in the courage to speak, the pain of trekking, and the trouble of textual research, but in refining deep and rough thinking into people's feelings and releasing mysterious and subtle feelings to a larger crowd. This is equivalent to crushing stones with your palm and melting hard ice with your body temperature. Every word, every sentence, will bring untold hardships. His academic spirit, rigorous and realistic style and serious learning attitude left a deep impression on me, and his words and spirit deeply touched me. This realm has already gone beyond the writing itself, traveling through the long river of 5,000 years of history and across the ancient land of east, west, north and south. Mr. Yu's article brings us rich and colorful humanities, geography, history and stories ... exploring up and down, showing the gorgeous poems of human humanistic history and opening up a spiritual home and cultural granary for us. I like Tianya Story and Hundred Thousand Scholars best. From the Tianya story, I finally know the long-sought "deer turning back" and understand my long-standing concern. I read this beautiful and touching legend over and over again. Those "clear and beautiful, helpless and desolate" deer eyes, those shining eyes eager for the glory of life, come from afar, penetrate time and space and enter our hearts all the time. There is no doubt that this shocking force is negative. Whenever you are desperate, there will always be the beauty and pleasure of death, and you will suddenly realize the meaning of life. If it weren't for the ends of the earth, the cliff and the dead valley, and life was forced to the final boundary, then there wouldn't be such a profound scene in front of us. Throughout Hainan, from the Warring States to today, those historical fragments strongly attracted me, especially the female civilization in Hainan's history mentioned by Mr. Wang. The prosperity of the whole Central Plains brought by Mrs. Xi and Huang Daopo, as well as the Soong sisters who went out from here, all carried a strong Hainan tide, which is the pride of our women. Female civilization derived and promoted family civilization. Su Dongpo and Li Guang came with tears, but they laughed through tears in their native civilization. Although Harry and Qiu Jun are in high spirits, they can't let go of their home civilization here, and they are all extremely happy and sad in the end ... Through Mr. Yu's pen, brain cells are dissolved and filtered, so with the thoughts and eyes of non-historians, our readers understand Hainan and find its soul. Hainan has become my yearning and pursuit. When I closed my eyes, the sound of coconut falling from maturity beat my heart, which further aroused my desire for coconut juice. I floated over to touch this and shake that, totally immersed in this surprise. After reading this story, I fell into a long aftertaste, burying my head deeply in the page, as if smelling the fragrance of coconut and the thick fruit platter in the south, and sucking greedily ... "Hundred Thousand Scholars is a thought-provoking article, and Mr. Wang made a good mockery of the examination room since the imperial examination. There is great distrust both inside and outside the examination room, which is true in ancient times, today and even today. Through this article by Mr. Yu, I know that the word "gunman" has a long history and a prominent position. So enduring, he must be a "useful talent", and he has been through many battles, adapted to local conditions, kept pace with the times, and innovated in different ways, but he has been given different connotations in different times and has to be overwhelmed. Judging from the wisdom of "gunmen" and the historical track, it is found that there was a huge market as early as the Tang Dynasty. I didn't expect Wen, a poet who is so familiar to everyone, to be a first-class cheater, and it is well known. It is a miracle that Wen once handed in eight candidates' papers at the same time. This reminds me of the various cheating methods of many candidates now, which is really brilliant. The once heavily guarded forbidden area of the college entrance examination, but now cheating often happens, not to mention student exams and various adult exams ... If I hadn't read Mr. Wang's article, I would have thought that "gunman" was just a product of the new era, but I really didn't expect it to extend back to the Tang Dynasty! There is also a common phenomenon. In the Song Dynasty, there was a saying that "people are afraid of ridicule, but many people criticize", so examiners must strive to be fair and cautious when recommending talents. Over time, an aggression has formed on the power network, and the fatal point is "incompatibility between people". In this way, practice in helplessness, fatigue in flexibility, standardization in cleverness and melting in the network. Secondly, it is an attack on the host's reputation. The ceremony of "thanking the host" has raised the reputation of the examiner. In the long run, it will be "clear between public and private". Thirdly, the aggressiveness of cultural education makes it difficult for examiners to stand on their own feet in power and reputation, leaving only cultural education, which is also very fragile sadly. Because of all kinds, a lot of jokes have been made. Imperial examination, examiner ... "For China, this is the need of the Millennium and the helplessness of the Millennium. Catch it, full of thorns; Throw it away and walk hard. " I appreciate what Mr. Wang said. How can one not meditate? "Silence is better than noise." This is another realm of a gentleman that I learned in this book.

Yu's Notes on Mountain Residence

2006/ 1 1/23

I have also read a few of Yu's books, but it is quite touching to chew them carefully like this.

This book is a collection of essays written by Mr. Yu on a hill in Sha Tin, Hong Kong. When I was surfing the Internet, I came across a speech about him in a university. As a result, the "Notes on Mountain Residence", which had been pressed at the bottom of the box for several years, was taken out again.

After reading this book, I really gained a lot.

After reading the article "Millennium Siheyuan" written in his book, he talked about a unique education and teaching model in ancient times. This unique educational model in ancient China created a miracle in the history of education in China. It pioneered the "class teaching system", set up a model of "learning from each other's strengths" and created a miracle of "academic culture". A large number of great men with lofty political and cultural status, such as Zhu and Su Dongpo, contributed wisdom and strength, and even gave their lives. Because of this, the contributions of many ancestors made the academy a temple of knowledge at that time, the cradle of the growth of scholar-officials and the production place of feudal officials. At the same time, a large number of philosophers, writers and scientists emerged. In a sense, it will promote the development of China's history.

After reading his article "Hundred Thousand Scholars", Yu deeply thought and studied this feudal imperial examination system that lasted for thousands of years.

As an official selection system in feudal society, the imperial examination system has selected hundreds of thousands and millions of scholars for the feudal dynasty for thousands of years since the Sui Dynasty, which objectively promoted the development of China society. However, as a system, its disadvantages also appear from time to time. For example, as a fair competition mechanism for aristocrats and ordinary people to pursue their careers, she still can't escape the behind-the-scenes black-box operation. At that time, China was still under the leadership of feudal landlord class.

Of course, such disadvantages were also discovered by many people of insight at that time. They are trying to change this situation. This includes Wang Anshi, Su Dongbo and others. However, this kind of reform and improvement efforts can not fundamentally eliminate this drawback. This system was finally abolished in the last years of the Qing government.

It is good for the new curriculum reform to study the imperial examination system now. After all, there is still some connection between the two, which will be mentioned later.

After reading Yu's books, I made some superficial experiences on two of them.

Yu's prose is rich in content and interesting to read, taking grand history as the cultural carrier. The romantic feelings of literati, the rigor and prudence of historians and the profound knowledge of philosophers have really given me a kind of spiritual purification, a broad vision and a spiritual destination.

1 Notes on Cultural Journey

Walking on the land of the Chinese nation, Yu pondered over the profound cultural heritage of this ancient nation with his unique observation and insight, and wrote a book for this "arduous journey" of China culture with delicate brushstrokes! Not sweet, because there is too much bitterness in it that I can't bear to experience personally. The bitter taste adds another flavor to this book which records the thousand-year-old culture of China. Before I saw the "cultural tour", I probably wouldn't have thought that a fascinating scenic spot and historic site would have such profound significance behind it. And the author used his wonderful pen to combine clean and beautiful prose, making it an article to awaken Chinese descendants.

Walking into the situation and thinking in the book, we can't help being serious. Just like a group of exiled children, exiled to a strange land, we have to move forward because of the promotion of history and culture. The grottoes living in the Mogao Grottoes appeared in front of our eyes. The grottoes are still spectacular and lifelike, and the murals are still silent. We quietly watched the changes of light and shadow projected on the stone wall, just as they quietly watched the Millennium changes of Dunhuang. The first knife cut a thousand years ago opened the majestic Mogao Grottoes a thousand years later. It suffered a catastrophe: the Taoist king guarded Dunhuang for thousands of years, but left it in the hands of foreigners, and the Chinese people abandoned it, and the cultural relics were exported to foreign countries. Today, many years later, why can the mysterious and meaningful grottoes attract everyone's attention? It is not a dazzling appearance, but it is just a ceremony, a kind of humanity and its deep hiding.

The couplets of "Shallow bamboo waves and clouds, small bridges and flowing rivers and villages" have shown the charm of small towns in the south of the Yangtze River. This is not a natural landscape carved by nature, but a humanistic landscape belonging to the ancient culture of China.

We have never been here, but the small town in Jiangnan in the book gives us a feeling of being at home. It is no wonder that many literati have come here to live in seclusion for so many years when their politics are unclear or their lives are frustrated. Building a house, a barren mountain, has troubles in life, and "seclusion in the city" has become the best thrust for literati to live in Jiangnan. In fact, our views on "seclusion" are both positive and negative. On the one hand, when China's culture begins to wither due to some factors, such as the northern nomads invading the Central Plains, literati or scholars will live in seclusion here with their knowledge to avoid war or political persecution; Secondly, the birth and death of officialdom, ups and downs, are the moments when literati are frustrated and everything goes well. At this time, the best way is to relieve their body and mind, find a place to live in seclusion, and when they have enough rest, it is the beginning of a new journey. The disadvantage is that some people will use seclusion as a tool to seek fame and gain official positions. These actions made China's unique recessive culture begin to deteriorate, and the hermit's arrogance before his death and his reputation after his death were completely dark. Nevertheless, we still hold a positive view on "concealment" or "preservation", because the space for literati in ancient China was too narrow, and besides concealment, it was forced to die. Instead of letting their ambitions fall like this, we will choose diving and make a comeback one day.

Yu Zeng said that he often stood where his predecessors stood, observing the natural and human environment and thinking about their emotions.

; In front of Liu Hou Temple, there is a stone statue to commemorate Liu Zongyuan's life. From his literary talent to his relegation, this is relegation. Liu Yong House is a remote place. Therefore, he put himself between mountains and rivers, and pinned his sad mood entirely on sightseeing and article creation, which made China's literary history have such excellent landscape literature as Eight Chapters of Yongzhou and such a generation.

When we close the book, we can't help walking to the window. Mobile traffic and crowds are announcing another culture. This is Kaohsiung, home to a thousand years of culture. Maybe we should pick up our doubts about China culture and take a walk on the vast land in person, so that we can take a walk on it after reading books.

After reading Mr. Yu's Cultural Journey, I feel a little heavy. Written in this book, there are passers-by in history, down-and-out literati who have been wandering all their lives, descendants of Fan Qin who have time to protect the ancient cultural heritage, and people who are simple and kind but ignorant and deprive of beauty. It profoundly depicts the shameful side of one culture after another. What impressed me most was the description of "site culture". Yu Xiansheng seems to have a soft spot for this. He wrote about the tomb many times, and inserted the description of the tomb many times in his narrative. No matter what grave, it marks a person's death. This person's life may be miserable, may be admired through the ages, or may be a heavy emotional sorrow arrival in this world. Even if it is not a fairy, at least there must be "a pile of loess to shelter from the wind and rain." Maybe he thinks death is better than living. Some things are enough to have memories, at least butterflies have been to this world. He said: "As long as history does not stop and time does not go backwards, everything will grow old. When you are old, you will be old and give the world a kind and beautiful peace.

Cultural Journey is Professor Yu's first collection of cultural essays, some of which have won the first prize of various literary awards. The first edition was published by Oriental Publishing Center in March of 1992, and the second edition was published in April of 20001. This book has won the second prize of the National Golden Key Book, the first prize of excellent books in Shanghai, the second literary achievement award in Shanghai and the best reader award in Taiwan Province Province.

The main purpose of "Cultural Journey" is to find the soul of culture and the secret of life with the help of mountains and rivers, and to explore the historical fate of China culture and the personality composition of China literati. Among them, Taoist Pagoda and Snow in Yangguan describe the rise and fall of the Yellow River civilization in the desert through ancient images, and the profound sense of desolation in history can be seen in the works. "White-haired Suzhou" and "Jiangnan Town" are based on a beautiful small bridge and flowing water, and express the fresh and graceful Jiangnan culture and world sentiment in form and spirit. "Storm" and "Random Thoughts on Qingyunpu Scenic Resort" point the brush strokes directly to cultural personality and cultural conscience, showing the difficult mental journey of China literati. In addition, there are well-known articles on cultural trends, such as Shanghainese, Sacrifice with Pen and Ink, and well-known reminiscence essays full of cultural sense, such as Paifang, Whispering and Living in Longhua.

With his profound knowledge of literature and history, rich cultural perception and artistic expression, Yu constantly reveals the great connotation of China culture, which provides a brand-new example for contemporary prose circles.
