The general survey of Quandian Iron Mine in Yuzhou City, Xuchang by the Second Geological Exploration Institute of Henan Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources shows that the proven iron ore resources in this mining area are134.32 million tons, with an average total iron grade of 29. 15% and magnetic iron content of 20.88%, and the mining area has reached a large scale.

Quandian iron mine is located in the plain covered by Cenozoic era, and the deposit occurs in the metamorphic rock belt of Wuzhuangyan Formation of Archean Dengfeng Group. The deposit type is "Anshan type", and the ore type is mainly amphibole-quartz type.

Experts from the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources believe that Xuchang is located in the Central Plains, with superior geographical position and developed transportation, close to large steel enterprises such as WISCO and Angang. The discovery of Quandian large-scale iron deposit, together with the original Xuchang Wuzhuang iron mine, can form a greater advantage of iron ore resources in the Central Plains and promote the rapid development of regional economy.
