What is the nature of Ningbo Shang Tong Bank Building?

Bank of Shang Tong Ningbo Branch is a six-story brick-concrete building (at that time, it was also one of the tallest buildings on the north bank of the old town of Ningbo). The building is located at No.37, Waima Road, Bund Community, Ma Zhong Street, Jiangbei District. Located in Sanjiangkou, Ningbo, with a building area of about 2000 square meters. The existing building was built in 1930, initiated by Ye Chengzhong, Yan Xinhou, Zhu and others in Ningbo, and designed by Siemens. Until the early liberation, the building served as the address of Ningbo Branch of China Commercial Bank (which was also the first branch established by commercial banks in other provinces and cities except Shanghai at that time). 1999 was announced as a municipal cultural protection point.

Looking up at the building, the pagoda-shaped facade is pasted with black marble, with double iron gates, solemn and solemn, the steps and the second facade are decorated with white marble, and the internal roof and surrounding walls are decorated with gypsum, which has strong foreign architectural cultural characteristics. There is a steel vault in the building. It is said that the key to the vault was lost in the chaotic handover at that time. So far, it is said that this vault can no longer be opened. Therefore, this is also an important witness to the development of Ningbo's financial industry and the historical changes of the Bund.
