Recreate amber identification features?

(1) Regenerated amber often contains flat and slender bubbles arranged in a directional way and obvious flow structure or syrup-like stirring structure. Dark surface oxide layer can be seen between amber particles, sometimes containing unmelted substances. The bubbles in natural amber are round and contain animal and plant debris.

(2) The enlarged observation shows that the reconstructed amber has a granular structure or a "bloodshot" structure, and the color boundary of the bloodshot is closed. On the polished surface, uneven boundaries can be seen due to different hardness.

(3) Under short-wave ultraviolet irradiation, the fluorescence of regenerated amber is stronger than that of natural amber, and the regenerated amber is bright chalky blue fluorescence, showing the phenomenon of granular structure luminescence caused by uneven fluorescence. Natural amber is light blue, white or light yellow fluorescent, and the color of regenerated amber is generally orange yellow or orange.

(4) Under the polarizer, we can see the strain birefringence of amber, which shows a granular extinction band. Natural amber is single refraction, serpentine or wavy extinction.

(5) At present, the new pressed amber has been greatly improved on the basis of the original pressed amber. The bloodshot structure that can be seen in the past can't be seen now, and it is replaced by granular "mosaic" structure, broken spot-broken base structure, broken powder structure, erythema structure, broken cement structure and so on. After the secondary composite treatment, the sunlight is distributed along the cracks.

Amber or resin? The year is the key?

Amberlite resin of tertiary coniferous plants was buried underground by geological process. After a long historical period, the resin lost its volatile components and polymerized and solidified to form amber. Amber can only be called amber when it was formed at least 6.5438+million years ago, otherwise it is only hardened resin.
