Huaihai Campaign Memorial Tower is located at the eastern foot of Fenghuang Mountain in the southeast suburb of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. The height of the memorial tower is 38.15m, and the tower emblem consisting of a five-pointed star, a rifle and a pine nut ribbon is carved on the top of the tower. The front of the tower is inlaid with gold-plated characters inscribed by Chairman Mao, "Huaihai Campaign Martyrs Memorial Tower". The front of the tower is engraved with a gold-plated inscription, which describes the historical process of the Huaihai Campaign and the heroic deeds of the martyrs who bravely supported the front line.

The front of the tower is engraved with inscriptions, with large reliefs on both sides, the heroic image of the People's Liberation Army on the right and the magnificent scene of the people's heroic resistance to the enemy on the left. In the corridor surrounded by pavilions at the lower corner of the tower, inscriptions of party and state leaders and a list of more than 30,000 martyrs are engraved. There is a spacious platform and 129 steps in front of the tower, which is 250 meters long and 3 1 meter wide. Next is the garden central square with a diameter of150m.

It is necessary to climb these steps to sweep the monument. When it rains heavily in summer, big water flows down the steps. The design angle at that time was quite special. From the bottom of the steps, it can be seen that the water curtain is formed by the flood thousands of meters away, and the slope angle formed by the steps and platforms is specially measured.

The Huaihai Campaign Martyrs Memorial Tower, which stands at the foot of Phoenix Mountain in the southern suburbs of Xuzhou, is not only a witness to glorious history, but also a monument to inspire future generations. 1948165438+1October 6 to1949 65438+1October 10, China People's Liberation Army carried out a great Huai Hai campaign in a vast area with Xuzhou as the center.
