Where is Xiao Putuo?

Little Putuo belongs to a famous scenic spot in Ningbo.

Xiao Putuo, also known as Yu Xia, is located in the center of the vast Dongqian Lake. It is one of the main attractions of Dongqian Lake Tourist Resort, with profound cultural heritage. During the Southern Song Dynasty, Yu Xia Temple and Guanyin Cave (Buduo Cave) and other scenic spots had been built on the island. According to Zhejiang Tongzhi and Yinxian Tongzhi, Shi Hao's mother Ye Shi believed in Buddhism and Guanyin, and had long wanted to go to Putuo Mountain in the South China Sea for pilgrimages. As she is old and blind, it is very inconvenient to cross the ocean. Shi Hao called local famous craftsmen to dig holes here and set up Guanyin Dojo. When the cave was completed, his mother was welcomed aboard, and the sailboat drifted in Dongqian Lake, listening to the sound of waves and wind, just like sailing in the sea. Three days later, I went to Yu Xia and lied that Putuo Mountain was a Buddhist country in the South China Sea, which realized my mother's great wish. Since then, there has been a saying of Xiao Putuo.

Main landscape:

1 Butuo Cave: Also known as Guanyin Cave, it is a grotto in the Southern Song Dynasty with a history of more than 800 years. The cave is more than 40 meters long and about 3 meters high and low. The Guanyin statues and shrines carved in the cave are round and full, with smooth lines, showing the superb skills of ancient craftsmen.

2. Thousand-dike smoke wave: refers to the long dike on the lake surrounded by water mist, which looks like smoke. Located at the entrance of the scenic spot, it faces Taogong Island across the river in the west and merges with the central levee in the east. The central boulder is engraved with Guo Moruo's inscription, the charm of calligraphy and the charm of Taihu Lake.

3. Tao Gong fishing for stones: According to legend, during the Spring and Autumn Period, the doctor of Yue changed his name, and Xie lived in seclusion at the foot of Funiu Mountain by Dongqian Lake. Later generations changed Funiu Mountain to Taogong Mountain, and the place where Fan Li often fished by the lake was called Taogong Fishing Stone.

4. Osmanthus fragrans in the breeze: There is a century-old osmanthus tree next to the entrance of the scenic spot, with a crown of tens of square meters and three connected branches, each DBH 20-25-25 cm. Every autumn, there is a cool breeze blowing gently and Gui Xiang erupts, hence the name "Fragrant Breeze".

5. Yue Ming, Hu Cheng: Originated from the meaning of the bright moon in clear lake, it is located in the middle of the dike in the middle of the lake and is an excellent place to enjoy the moon in the middle of the lake.

6. Yu Xia Suolan: It is named after the fog around the island. Here, the water vapor is transpiration, the fog is pervading, and Yu Xia is hidden in the lake, as if the island was locked by the fog, hence the name Yu Xia Solan.

7. Hubo Mountain: Located on the east side of Xiadao, facing Baijiling across the lake. It is an ideal place for ships to dock because of its flat terrain and calm waves. In the past, it was an ancient ferry in Xiadao. Every time a monk calls a boat here, so a famous monk calls it a boat.

8. A glimpse of Erling Mountain: Erling Mountain stands out from the crowd in Dongqian Lake. There are Erling Temple in the ancient temple and Erling Tower in the Northern Song Dynasty. Whenever the sun sets, the sun shines through the ten holes of the Erling Tower, and the shadow of the tower is reflected in the lake. This is the setting sun of Erling Tower, one of the ten scenic spots in a thousand lakes.
