What places does Kowloon include?

Kowloon (English: Kowloon), geographically known as Kowloon Peninsula, is one of the three major regions of Hong Kong and the main part of the urban area except Hong Kong Island. The southeast and west of Kowloon Peninsula are surrounded by Victoria Harbour. In the past, due to the lease relationship between Britain and China, it was once divided into "Kowloon" (south of Boundary Street) and "New Kowloon" (north of Boundary Street and south of Lion Mountain). However, since the Sino-British talks have defined the future of Hong Kong, the division of "New Kowloon" is meaningless, so the two places are now collectively called "Kowloon". However, at present, some properties in New Kowloon, like those in the New Territories, have to pay government rent to the SAR Government.

According to the survey and mapping office of Hong Kong Lands Department in February 2003, Kowloon covers an area of 46.93 square kilometers.
