Overview of School of Politics and Administration of Lanzhou University

The predecessor of the School of Politics and Administration of Lanzhou University can be traced back to the Marxism-Leninism Teaching and Research Section of Lanzhou University, which was established in September 1950. 1In May 1988, the Department of Marxist Science was established on the basis of the Marxism-Leninism Teaching and Research Section.1In August 1998, the Department of Marxist Science was renamed the Department of International Politics. 200 1, the Department of International Politics, the Marxist-Leninist Teaching and Research Department and the Moral Education Teaching and Research Department merged and reorganized to form the Department of International Politics (the institutional setup of the Marxist-Leninist Teaching and Research Department and the Moral Education Teaching and Research Department was retained). In February 2004, in order to meet the requirements of comprehensive, research-oriented and well-known high-level universities and grass-roots organizations of Lanzhou University for teaching and research, the School of Politics and Administration of Lanzhou University was established on the basis of the former Department of International Politics.

The college consists of four research institutes: the Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and Research, the Institute of International Studies, the Institute of Marxist Principles, the Institute of Marxism in China and the Institute of Ideological and Political Education. In addition, the Central Asia Institute is also affiliated to the Institute. There are six master's programs, namely, Marxism in China and Marxist theoretical research, Marxism in China, ideological and political education, scientific socialism and international production movement, and international politics and international relations, and graduate students are enrolled 129. The college has three undergraduate majors: international politics, ideological and political education, political science and administration, and enrolled 433 undergraduates. The college also has two majors: applied self-taught marketing (undergraduate and junior college) and property management (junior college). The college has two professional reference rooms and a 1 network computer room. The reference room has 65438+ ten thousand professional books and hundreds of domestic and foreign newspapers and magazines.

College * * * has 64 faculty members, including 52 full-time teachers, professors 10, associate professors 14, 23 lecturers and 6 teaching assistants, among whom 19 have the qualification of tutor for master's degree. Five people came back from abroad.

In recent years, the School of Politics and Administration has made great achievements in teaching and scientific research around the first-class discipline of political science. All teachers are committed to their own research fields, with 38 research topics, including 7 national topics, 8 Ministry of Education topics and 23 provincial topics. Among these scientific research projects, the characteristics are obvious, mainly including Central Asia research, western frontier stability research, political, economic and cultural research, political theory education and ideological and political education research in colleges and universities. The total amount of scientific research funds is 300,000 on average every year. He has published more than 350 articles in national journals at all levels, including more than 70 articles and more than 20 works in authoritative core journals. And seven teachers were hired by Gansu Provincial Party Committee as members of the political theory propaganda group, accounting for 1/3 of the members of the provincial theory propaganda group. The expansion of teaching staff and the development of scientific research have strongly promoted the development of research work and the continuous progress of discipline construction in our college, and laid the discipline foundation in the field of political science research for the development of comprehensive college of Lanzhou University.

In addition to the education and training of graduate students and undergraduates, the college also undertakes the task of teaching Marxist-Leninist theory and moral education to more than 20 thousand students of all kinds in the school. The main courses are selected reading of Marxism-Leninism (liberal arts), theory and practice of scientific socialism, Marxism and contemporary ideological trend (liberal arts) and modern scientific and technological revolution and Marxism (science). Undergraduate students have two political theory courses (Basic Principles of Marxism, Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and Theory of Three Represents) and two ideological and moral courses (Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis, Outline of Modern and Contemporary History of China). The four courses of ideological and political theory are all key courses and brand-name courses in the school, which have played an extremely important role in the formation of students' world outlook, outlook on life and values, and the teaching effect has also been widely recognized by the majority of students.
