Hebei Agricultural University is a provincial-level key university approved by the People's Government of Hebei Province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Ministry of Education and the State Forestry and Grassland Bureau. The school was selected as the first batch of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan, outstanding engineer education and training plan and the national 100 Ministry of Education's engineering university for basic capacity building in central and western universities, and a double-class construction university in Hebei Province.

The predecessor of Hebei Agricultural University was Zhili Agricultural School, which was founded in the 28th year of Guangxu. 19 12 was changed to zhili public agricultural specialized school, and in 192 1 year, zhili public agricultural specialized school, medical college, law, legal administration and higher normal school were merged to form Hebei university. 193 1 year, Hebei University was dissolved and Hebei Agricultural College became independent.
