A tree on Haihe West Road in Tianjin

Ancient and famous trees are living cultural relics and witness to the vicissitudes of Haihe River. According to the statistics of the garden department, there are 20 ancient and famous trees protected by the municipal level within the Haihe River within the Outer Ring Road and within 500 meters of its upstream, among which 8 trees grow in Sanchahekou area, 2 trees grow in 10 on both sides of the Haihe River from Sanchahekou to Liu Zhuang Bridge and 2 trees grow in Yun Bei River. In addition, there are more than 3,000 trees such as poplar, willow, Robinia pseudoacacia, Toona sinensis, elm and Fraxinus mandshurica in parks, green spaces, roads, houses and units on both sides of Haihe River. In order to protect and make good use of ancient and big tree resources and make them beautiful scenic spots on both sides of the Haihe River, in the comprehensive development and transformation of the Haihe River, the "fuzzy ash" (Tianjin tree) of Zhang Zizhong Road, Taierzhuang Road and Haihe East Road was retained. In the widening and reconstruction project of Taierzhuang Road, the position of two ancient trees affected the construction. The builders did not hesitate to modify the road design scheme and drainage pipe network layout for these two ancient trees, and built a tree pool in the middle of the road.
