Historical Evolution of Jiangnan East Road

JD.COM, Jingxi, Hebei, Hedong, Shaanxi, Huainan, Jiangnan, Jinghu South, Jinghu North, Zhejiang, Fujian, Xichuan, Xixia, Guangnan East, Guangnan West 15 roads run through the whole Song Dynasty. In the sixteen states of Youyun, which have no driving sovereignty, the Song Dynasty also acquiesced in Yanshan Road and Yunzhongfu Road. In the second year of Tianxi (AD 10 18), it was promoted to jiangning house; In the fourth year of Tianxi (AD 10 10), Jiangnan Road was divided into Jiangnan East Road and Jiangnan West Road.

During the Northern Song Dynasty, most of the land south of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu and Anhui today belonged to Jiangnan East Road, which consisted of one house (jiangning house), seven states, two armies and sixty-eight counties.

In Song Dynasty, Jiangnan East Road was one of the most prosperous provinces in China. No matter the total population, grain output, or the number of imperial examination champions, it ranks in the top three in the country, comparable to Huainan East Road and Liangzhe Road, and obviously ahead of Huainan West Road and Jiangnan West Road nearby.
