Dandong is located in the mid-latitude zone on the east coast of Eurasia, with a warm temperate humid monsoon climate. The average annual rainfall is mostly between 800- 1200mm, which is the most rainy area in northern China, and 2/3 of the rainfall is concentrated in summer.

The annual average temperature is 8-9℃ in the south and 6-7℃ in the north. Affected by the monsoon, the four seasons change obviously and are distinct, making it the warmest and wettest place in Northeast China. Spring and autumn are the seasons when the north and south winds alternate. In spring, cold air begins to weaken and retreat northward, while warm air enters northward; Autumn is the opposite.

Winter is the longest, followed by summer, and the transition season between spring and autumn is the shortest. Dandong has a large amount of precipitation, which is the highest in Northeast China, accounting for 70% of the precipitation in Liaoning Province, and is rich in water resources. The average annual precipitation is 88 1.3- 1087.5 mm, and two thirds of the annual precipitation is concentrated in summer, and the rainstorm is concentrated in mid-July to mid-August.
