Introduction of Mayang Island in Yantai

In the past, Mayang Island was an isolated island at sea, but now the newly-built cross-sea bridge connects the island with the land. The first thing you see when you enter the island is Tianma Square, which covers an area of over 70,000 square meters. There are six scenic spots in the square, including the Cultural Park and the Horse Cultural Park. The horse sculpture in the center of the square, 30 meters high, has become a symbol of the island and a symbol of soaring. Ma Yang Island has beautiful natural scenery, and the most magical is the "one island and three beaches" landscape. You may not think that there are three different kinds of sea water, three different beaches and three different waves around such an island.

Bounded by Tianma Square, the east of the island is a gentle and delicate golden beach. Sunny weather, the blue sea is as quiet as a mirror, and beautiful mountains are reflected in it, just like a fresh landscape painting. Before midsummer every year, countless tourists come here to swim and sail.

Although the beach in the west of the square is only a stone's throw away from the bathing beach in the east, it is another scene. Every low tide will reveal a black mud beach with black oil. Tourists can bring fishermen's daughters here to catch small seas and dig clams, and enjoy themselves.

Unlike the calm beach in front of Mayang Island, the back sea of Mayang Island is vast and full of rocks. Every windy day, it is spectacular to build jade by flying snow on the shore. This is the reef beach in One Island and Three Beaches. The rocks on the beach are strange in shape, with axes and knives. Many rocks have a wonderful name, such as camel drifting on the sea, lion and dog avoiding waves, golden turtle watching the sea and so on. There is a natural cave in the east of the reef beach, which is called "Crescent Cave" because its entrance looks like a crescent moon. There is a clear spring in the cave, which is cool and sweet. There is also a natural cave next to the Crescent Cave, which contains 18 caves of different sizes. Legend has it that every spring tide, there will be a loud noise in the cave, which will cause the fishermen's dogs on the island to bite and bark. So this hole is called "18 holes bitten by dogs" by locals.

If "one island and three beaches" on Ma Yang Island is a gift from nature, then the cultural landscape and folk customs on the island are the crystallization of hard work and wisdom of fishermen from generation to generation. According to historical records, people lived in Mayang Island more than 10,000 years ago. Now, there are 8 villages on the island, and many residents live here all the year round.
