Yes, audio or video can be used as one of the types of evidence stipulated by law, but there are not many cases directly recognized by the court. The main reason is that audio-visual materials, as a technical synthesis, do not directly reflect the objective facts to be proved like documentary evidence, physical evidence and other types of evidence, and can only be displayed with the assistance of certain technical equipment.

At the same time, as audio-visual materials are highly technical evidence, the parties should not only confirm that the audio-visual materials are not obtained by illegal means, but also confirm that the audio-visual materials have not been spliced, deleted or synthesized, otherwise it will be difficult for the court to directly accept the audio-visual materials.

Therefore, Article 69 of the Supreme People's Court's "Several Provisions on Evidence in Civil Proceedings" stipulates that questionable audio-visual materials cannot be used as the basis for determining the facts of a case alone.
