What does the number of the invoice code mean?

Starting from 2005, the new national general invoice (except VAT invoice) will replace the old national general invoice. The main difference between the old and new invoices lies in the different invoice coding methods. The new invoice adopts a unified classification code with 20-digit codes, including 12-digit classification code and 8-digit invoice number. This number is printed in the upper right corner of the invoice in two lines. The code of the old ordinary invoice is 10 digits, and the number is printed in the upper right corner of the invoice with 1 line. Meaning of new invoice code:

Only the invoice number is printed on the old invoice, and a line of 12-digit invoice code is added to the upper right corner of the new invoice. Each number in this line of classification codes has a specific meaning.

From left to right, the number 1 is the code of State Taxation Bureau and Local Taxation Bureau; The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th digits are area codes, and Shanghai is 3100; The 6th and 7th digits are year codes, for example, this year's invoice is 05; The eighth place is the unified industry code (among them, the national tax industry is divided into 1 industry, 2 commerce and trade, 3 processing and repair industries, 4 acquisition industries, 5 hydropower industries and 6 others; Classification of local tax industry: 1 transportation, 2 construction, 3 finance and insurance, 4 post and telecommunications, 5 culture and sports, 6 entertainment, 7 services, 8 intangible assets transfer, 9 sales of real estate, 0 others); Number 9 and 10 are invoice version, limit and joint division; The numbers 1 1 and 12 are invoice batches.
