He has worked hard for more than 40 years and has written more than 20 plays, including The Battle of Jimo, Qin Liangyu, Zheng Chenggong and The Change of Xuanwu Gate, all of which have been put on the stage and become reserved plays. In Yan 'an, after watching Ren Guilin's Peking Opera script "Three Beats of Zhujiazhuang" performed on the same stage with Wei, the chairman happily wrote to him personally and warmly praised the play for consolidating the revolutionary road of Pingju. His script "Into Chang 'an", which cooperated with A Jia, was premiered for the first time after the liberation of Shijiazhuang, causing a sensation. Battle of Red Cliffs, a play jointly written by Ma, Ma, Weng Ouhong, caused a sensation in Beijing. Ren Guilin also wrote plays for movies and TV series. His film literary script Hunting the Tiger's Cave, which was co-produced with Wang Yingci and Wang Yutang, was the first batch of outstanding revolutionary feature films after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In his later years, he also collaborated with Huang Zhongyu to create the TV series "Beijing Opera Sisters".

Ren Guilin loved drama all his life, and his performing arts and script creation left a glorious page in the history of the development of revolutionary Peking Opera in China. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), he served as the president of the Central Academy of Drama for a long time.
