All the steps of mould design self-study include the analysis and digestion of 2D and 3D drawings of products, the determination of injection molding machine model, the number and arrangement of cavities, the determination of parting surface, the determination of mould base and the selection of standard parts, the proofreading of design drawings and the countersigning of design drawings.

The specifications of the injection machine are mainly determined according to the size and production batch of plastic products. When designing templates, select standard templates as far as possible, and determine the form, specification and thickness of A and B plates of standard templates. Standard parts include general standard parts and special standard parts for molds. Fasteners and other general standard parts.
