The Department of Geotechnical Engineering of North China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower has a major in geological and mineral engineering; Geography (science) undergraduate professional resources and environment and urban and rural planning and management; Civil engineering (engineering) undergraduate major in civil engineering (geotechnical engineering).
1) geological engineering major: originally hydrogeology and engineering geology major, it was founded in 1958. At present, this major mainly offers two major directions: engineering geology and environmental geology.

The Department of Geotechnical Engineering, formerly known as the Department of Geology, was founded in 1958. It is an old department with a history of more than 40 years. Especially in recent years, with the deepening of education reform, the demand for teachers is increasing, and some measures have been taken accordingly: First, introduce high-level talents and academic leaders. Wang Hongzhu: 1978 ~ 1982 majored in hydrogeology and engineering geology. 1995 ~ 1998 was the deputy mayor of Cangzhou, Hebei province, and now he is the chairman of Beijing Environmental Geology and Geotechnical Technology Co., Ltd.
Lu Xinjing: 1978 to 1982 majoring in hydrogeology and engineering geology. Professor-level senior engineer, currently deputy chief engineer of Yellow River Committee Design Institute of Ministry of Water Resources.
Qin Siqing: 1986 graduated from hydrogeology and engineering geology. He is currently a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, China Academy of Sciences. 1997 was selected into the "Hundred Talents Program" of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Won many awards such as Mao Yisheng Science and Technology Award and enjoyed special government allowance.
Zhu: 1984 graduated, professor-level senior engineer, and now the president of China Ordnance Industry Local Survey and Design Institute.
Tan Yuanlin: 1982 graduated, professor-level senior engineer, and now general manager of Seabuckthorn Company of Ministry of Water Resources.

The Department of Geotechnical Engineering of North China University of Water Resources and Hydropower started to set up geotechnical engineering specialty from 1994, and 1999 was adjusted to the geotechnical engineering direction of civil engineering specialty. The major direction is to cultivate high-level talents who are intersected by geological engineering and civil engineering. Since its establishment, graduates have been concerned by the society and praised by employers, and the demand for graduates is in short supply. Experimental and practical teaching is an indispensable part of engineering higher education, and laboratory construction is our department's unremitting work. After years of hard work, we now have basic geological laboratories (including geological specimen showrooms), hydrogeology laboratories, engineering geological laboratories, engineering geophysics laboratories, soil mechanics laboratories and rock mechanics laboratories, among which the soil mechanics laboratories and rock mechanics laboratories passed the national quality certification in 2000 and have the statutory geotechnical experimental data qualifications.
