The last stop of self-driving Haval F7 in Changzhi, Shanxi - Huahu Highway
Huahu Highway has become popular in recent years due to the spread of Douyin. It is a road built in the 1980s from Pingshun County, Changzhi, Shanxi to Huayuan Village. The total length of the road is 22 kilometers. A road from Shanxi to Henan is special because of its danger, steepness, and many turns. It was a trade route from Shanxi merchants to Henan a long time ago. ?After our self-driving trip to Changzhi, we visited Baquan Gorge in Huguan County and navigated to Huayuan Village. Huayuan Village belongs to Pingshun County in Changzhi. Navigation requires us to pass through Linzhou City in Henan Province to reach it. Let’s just mention Pingshun County in Changzhi. This is where we drove on the Hongtiguan Wall Highway before, and the Hongqi Canal Scenic Area in Linzhou City, Henan Province we passed through is the eighth wonder of the world known as the "Artificial Tianhe". If you have time, you can also take a look. ?We followed the navigation all the way to Linzhou City, Henan Province. We entered Henan from the towering Taihang Mountains, "the hinterland of Kyushu and the thoroughfare of ten provinces". Why do we say this? Because entering Henan means entering the plain area. It was about 5 p.m. At that time, the temperature outside Xiaoqi's car also rose from 28 degrees to 36 degrees. Just now, we had the windows open to enjoy the cool breeze. Now we can only close the windows and turn on the air conditioner. ?Here we can see the sudden and dramatic changes in the terrain of the Taihang Mountains and the central plains. We can see the vast plains behind us and the towering mountains in front of us.
This is the road construction notice at the entrance of Huayuan Village saying that it is closed to traffic.
Anyway, we have already taken this step. On the way, we met a driver who came down from the mountain to confirm that we can pass.
I don’t know what the hole on the opposite mountainside is for.
Xiao Qi’s car uses China Unicom signal. There is no signal in the mountains and it is impossible to navigate, so she has to change her mobile phone.
We climbed up the mountains rising from the plains.
Starting from Huayuan Village, we have returned to Pingshun County, Shanxi Province. This feeling of traveling back and forth between the two provinces is very wonderful. At the entrance of Huayuan Village, we saw a posted road for the Huahu Route. There was a no-travel notice for the reconstruction, but the news we saw online was that it was passable. There might be some construction work on the road and we had to wait. However, at first we didn’t meet a single car on the road as we went up the mountain, and we were worried that the road was impassable. When a car came down the mountain, it was said that there were stones blocking the road halfway, making it difficult to pass. The scenery along the way was particularly beautiful, and the road was freshly paved. Xiaoqi was very comfortable running. When he was approaching the top of the mountain, he saw the road blocking the road. Shitou's daughter-in-law can get out of the car and give instructions to get through.
Looking down from the mountain, you can see the way you came, like an earthworm.
Let Xiao Qi also take a photo with the mysterious cave.
I don’t know whether these caves are artificial or natural, and you can’t see any artificial traces inside.
The opening of the hole is very large, and the inside is also very spacious. I was afraid that rocks would fall from the top, so I didn’t drive Xiaoqi in.
Take a photo of Xiaoqi outside the cave from inside the cave.
It is said that there are usually a lot of self-driving cars and cyclists on this road, maybe because there are relatively few people in the recent construction work. In fact, I think the most thrilling part of Huahu Highway is that there are seven amazing roads. The tunnel of heaven and man cuts straight down from the top of the peak. It is so majestic that it can be called a natural chasm. When you drive through these tunnels you will feel how great human beings are. When you walk out of the last tunnel, you can see a mountain of windmills and generators, which is very spectacular!
This road can only be used by small vehicles, and large vehicles cannot pass around the corners.
I am almost reaching the top of the mountain. I feel like the clouds are in front of my eyes. When I reach the top, I can see paragliders flying.
It feels like the sky has risen, and the clouds have reached from the top of the head to the side.
Looking at the road we came from, we can still see the plains of Henan in the distance.
It is winding and rugged, and the road conditions are like this all the way. Many car enthusiasts like this kind of winding mountain road.
Keep walking until you reach an intersection. On the left is the Xiaoxitian Scenic Area, and on the right is the Jindeng Temple. The Jindeng Temple used to be free to visit, but now the ticket is 20 yuan per person. , the most distinctive one is the grotto built on the cliff. From Jindeng Temple, return to Xiaoxitian and follow the main road to reach Pingshun County, Shanxi Province.
This is where the driver we met said that there were huge rocks blocking the road. There was no problem for Xiaoqi to pass. Due to the high chassis, the gravel on the ground had no impact on Xiaoqi.
After passing this section of gravel, we started to walk through the cave. There are seven tunnels in total. There is no lighting in the tunnel and it is very narrow, so it is impossible to miss the car.
Go through the first tunnel smoothly. This tunnel can only be walked in one lane.
Tunnel No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, No. 5 that we can see with the naked eye.
There are construction vehicles between the two tunnels, which are released every hour. We can only wait in the tunnel for passage.
Writing so many words today to introduce this self-driving route actually feels like there is still a lot to say, because there is so much to say and I want you to see more. I hope you all have the opportunity to do so in the future. Experiencing it for yourself is worth more than a thousand words.
The top of the tunnel is also in its original state and unprotected.
This is the construction site of Tunnel No. 6, where broken stones are being used to reinforce the protective net at the top of the tunnel.
Finally walked out of Tunnel 1 and met the Henan motorcycle friends we met in Baxian Gorge.
