The Origin of Tangjiatuo Slang

Legend has it that when Huguang was filling Sichuan, a man named Tang came to Tuohe Bay in Huishui. In order to make a living, he built houses here, hoeed the ground and planted vegetables, and then the residents gradually gathered to form streets and lanes. So there was the name Tangjiatuo. The river in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River is very fast, and it will slow down when it returns. Against the current, all kinds of things will rush down, spin around here and finally float to the shore. The rumor of slang "I lost to Tang Jiatuo" is that people who fail in business can't stand the blow and choose to jump into the river. The river washed the body to Tangjiatuo, which led to many ghost stories and this slang of Tangjiatuo, but there is nowhere to study it.

Asian oil company

After the opening of Chongqing, the British imperialists set up an Asian oil company in Tangjiatuo, mainly dealing in kerosene and gasoline. It can hold more than 10,000 tons of oil, which once occupied an important position in Chongqing's industrial history and even controlled the kerosene supply in China and even Asia. However, after the liberation of Chongqing, Asian oil companies withdrew from Chongqing. And this oil depot became the shipyard of Dongfeng Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. Now we walk into Tangjiatuo Old Street Shipyard. On the top of the hill behind the factory, there is a well-preserved blue-gray three-story building, which is the big classroom of Asian oil companies. Big class is the manager. Because the big classes at that time were all British and the architectural style was westernized, this house was also called "foreign house".

The largest refugee shelter in Chongqing

1937, the national government moved its capital to Chongqing. 1938, the Japanese bombed the urban area of Chongqing. At that time, famous government officials, celebrities and people living in urban areas all came to Tangjiatuo for refuge. Because Tangjiatuo was not far from the main city, and there were ships between Tangjiatuo and Chaotianmen at that time, it became the first choice to avoid the war. In order to provide shelter for refugees, the National Government expropriated the land of the landlord named Tangjiatuo-Xu and built a very large Catholic new village, which could accommodate 300 to 400 families. In order to facilitate road construction, cement roads were also built in wasteland and grain fields. Now it has become the staff dormitory of Dongfeng Shipyard.

Dongfeng shipyard

At that time, the traffic was inconvenient and the goods could only be transported by water. Tangjiatuo happens to be the dock where the ship docked. After liberation, the shipbuilding industry in Chongqing developed continuously, and Dongfeng Shipyard appeared in Tangjiatuo, whose predecessor was the famous Chongqing Minsheng Machinery Factory. The first domestic steel ship in southwest China, the first luxury tourist ship in the Yangtze River, the largest 10,000-ton export ship in southwest China and the first finished oil tanker exported to Europe in west China were born here. Everyone who worked here at that time would be envied by others, and it would be nice to say it.

Chongqing pharmaceutical No.9 factory

The predecessor of the Ninth Pharmaceutical Factory was Nan 'an Kang Min Gauze Factory. As a state-owned enterprise, the welfare benefits are still relatively good. Not only staff dormitories were built, but also basketball courts and cinemas were built. While others are still watching movies in the open air, the employees and their families of Tangjiatuo No.9 Pharmaceutical Factory already have decent indoor cinemas. Military and Political Ministry Rear Hospital and Sanmin Printing Factory

The former site of the hospital behind the military department is in Tangjiatuo New Village. During the Anti-Japanese War, the hospital came to Chongqing with the National Government to treat the wounded. There was a middle school next to the hospital at that time. Whenever a child falls ill or falls, he will come to the hospital for treatment. Once a boy in this middle school was sent to the hospital for 4 stitches because of a head injury. Sanmin Printing is located at No.99, Sancun Village, Tangjiatuo, which was once the secret base for printing Kuomintang legal tender during the Anti-Japanese War. Although it is a bit shabby now, from the architectural style, we can still see the traces of that year.

Tangjiatuo is no longer a backwater in the hearts of Chongqing people.
